What the inspector wrote

On 08/23/2021 at 9:45am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Samantha Clenista, conducted an unannounced inspection for the purpose of a random annual inspection and to address facility's request of changing rooms from having children (ages K-12 years old) in the Auditorium (aka MPR) to Rooms 304 and 305. Upon arrival, LPA was greeted by Evelyn Harper (Area Manager), however Saira Salazar (Site Director) conducted the rest of the visit. Fire clearance was granted on 08/13/2021. There were no children in care during time of visit. LPA inspected the new rooms that facility is requesting to utilize (Room 304 and 305). Per Health and Safety Code Sections 1596.806(a), (a)(1), (1)(2) and (d) this program is exempt from square footage, fencing, outdoor activity space, toilet and isolation requirements. Outdoor play areas include field, blacktop area, play structure near field, and kinder playground. The rooms are equipped with tables and chairs and age appropriate equipment. There is a sink available in each room. Room 305 has two restrooms that consists of 1 toilet and 1 sink each which afford privacy. There are also additional restrooms located in the hallway between the PTA Room and Room 305. Bathrooms and classroom sinks have hot and cold running water. Drinking water is readily accessible via water bottles and refillable water jugs. Snacks will be provided and prepared in the classrooms. Classrooms have storage space for food. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector in both classrooms. Ms. Salazar stated that the sign-in area will take place outside of Room 304 and 305. All COVID-19 posters are posted. Ms. Salazar was reminded to keep anything that reads, \342\200\234Keep Out of Reach of Children\342\200\235 to be inaccessible to children. Ms. Salazar is reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing. Medications, when present, will be stored in a locked cabinet in both classrooms, inaccessible to children. All hazardous items are stored where they are inaccessible to children. Ms. Salazar has a current CPR and First Aid certification. SB792 (staff immunization's) and AB 1207 (Mandated Reporter Training) requirements have been met. Facility is reminded the Mandated Reporter Training is to be retaken every two years and can be accessed at the following website: www.mandatedreporterca.com . This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. No services are in place today. Ms. Salazar states she understands that all staff must have a criminal record clearance and be associated to the facility prior to having a presence in the Center. Child Care Providers can now sign up for Quarterly Updates and PINS through the DSS website. Please go to www.ccld.ca.gov and click on \342\200\234Receive Important Updates,\342\200\235 then enter your email address and choose which program you would like to subscribe to and click subscribe. LPA also shared the following resources to Ms. Salazar via email: Playground Safety Handbook, Risk in Play article, YMCA Childcare Resource Service, Helping Young Children Cope with Disaster, Active Supervision Handout, and COVID-19 Early Care and Education handout. No deficiencies cited at this time. Room 304 and 305 were observed to be safe per Title 22 regulation. Facility is granted use of both rooms effective today's date, 08/23/2021. An updated license for 90 school age children (K-12 years old) in Rooms 304 and 305 will be mailed to facility tomorrow. NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS POSTED DURING THIS VISIT AND SHALL REMAIN POSTED FOR 30 DAYS.
