What the inspector wrote

On 08/19/2024 at 4:15pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Selina Siao conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for an increase in capacity. Upon arrival, LPA met with Assistant Site Supervisor Sofia Reyes and later met with Site Supervisor Jared Windt. Facility representative is requesting to be licensed for 112 school age children that are attending UTK to 12-year-old in both sections of the Auditorium. Facility operates Monday through Friday from 6:30am to 8:15am and 2:40pm to 6pm and on Wednesday 12:15pm to 6pm. Present during today\342\200\231s inspection were 41 children with 7 staff in different groups and areas. All staff present has the required background clearances and area associated to the facility's administrative facility number 376600644. Appropriate ratios and supervision were observed. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA informed Jared Windt that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities. LPA continued to tour the facility and toured all the areas both indoor and outdoor activity space. This school age program is located on a school site therefore it is exempt from square footage, toilet, and sink requirements. LPA observed age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, and other activity supplies for the school children in the current licensed cafeteria section of the auditorium. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via the filtered water fountains located right outside of the auditorium near the children's restroom. There is a separate staff restroom inside the auditorium that is also use for ill children. No hazardous items are accessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. There is an operating carbon monoxide detector on the Director's desk. Fire clearance was granted on 08/12/2024. The children uses the restroom outside of the cafe/auditorium, the boys and girl\342\200\231s restroom near the black top area, the boys and girl\342\200\231s restroom at building 12 next to the UTK playground and the restrooms located at building 17. The facility currently has a fully fenced playground area. The chain link fencing is at least four feet high. Site Supervisor stated that the children uses the upper black top area located near the red play structure, including the basketball courts, volleyball court, handball walls and the grass area will also be use in the near future. Site supervisor stated that the children do not use the red play structure. The program also uses the UTK playground area and the UTK green structure that has soft rubber cushioning. There are sufficient outdoor age-appropriate toys and play equipment available on the playground. Drinking water is available via the children's own water bottles and drinking fountain at the UTK area. Facility representative was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing. Facility representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.\342\200\235 A license for 112 children will be granted upon received of change of director packet for Jared Windt and a final file review. A notice of site visit was given to the site supervisor and must remain posted for 30 days.
