What the inspector wrote

(1) On 09/02/2021 at 10:31AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Samantha Clenista visited the facility to conduct a annual random site inspection. Upon arrival, LPA met with Assistant Director, Maria (Nely) Barahona, and proceeded to tour the facility. There was a total of 15 children with a total of 5 staff. Appropriate ratio and capacity was observed. All required notices, forms and licenses were posted. Furniture and age appropriate equipment is in good condition. Rooms have adequate heating, ligh ting, ventilation and portable water is available for children both indoor and outdoor. Storage cubbies are readily available, and room accommodates class size. Napping equipment consists of cribs for younger infants and mats for older infants and toddlers. Each crib and mat has its own sheet or covering. There is a sink within reach of the changing table. The infants bottles are labeled with their name and date. Bathrooms are maintained with operational toilets and faucets with appropriate temperature. Paper towels and toilet paper are available. Bathroom is lighted and has ventilation. Food service area consists of a kitchen which is clean and free of hazards. Monthly menu is posted. Adequate food is available for meals and snacks. Cleaning supplies are kept out of reach of children. Outdoor play area is a fenced playground with sufficient canopy use as shade. Facility does not have any climbing structures. Equipment is age appropriate and separated by age groups, infant /toddler and preschool. Facility uses the electronic sign in and out system. LPA reviewed first aid supplies and medication policy and storage, all areas are within compliance. Isolation area is the Director's office. Personnel and client records were reviewed and all staff members have the background clearances and are associated to the facility. Reporting requirements was also reviewed. All personnel have required background clearances and are associated to the facility. LPA reviewed Emergency Disaster Plan and last fire drill was conducted on 09/01/2021. Facility has an operating carbon monoxide detector located in the main office/lobby area. Facility has at least one staff member that has a valid EMSA approved pediatric CPR/FA when children are in care. See 809-C for continuation... This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. Director was provided with information about Heat Related Illness, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), Never Shake a Baby, safe sleep for infants, best practice on supervision, latest car seat poster and effects of lead exposure and reporting responsibilities were discussed. The ABC\342\200\231S of Safe Sleep: Sleep is Safest: Alone, on their Back in an empty Crib on a firm mattress. Child Care Providers can now sign up for Quarterly Updates and PINS through the DSS website. Please go to www.ccld.ca.gov . LPA discussed California Megan's Law with facility representative : www.meganslaw.ca.gov . No deficiencies cited. An exit interview was conducted, and appeal rights were provided. A notice of site visit was provided and to be posted at the facility for 30 days. Failure to keep notice posted will result in a civil penalty of $100.00
