What the inspector wrote

On 06/21/21 at 11:50am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Martha Malane arrived at the facility to conduct a case management inspection for the purpose of a capacity increase and room change. Upon arrival, LPA met with Director, Lindsay Walker and proceeded to tour the facility. There were no children and one (1) staff member present during the inspection due to the school being closed for the summer. The current licensed capacity is for 15 preschool children (age 2\342\200\2236 years) operating in room 2 and applicant is requesting a capacity increase for 30 preschool children (age 3-5 years) operating in rooms 3 and 4. Facility operates Monday through Friday 7:00am to 5:00pm. A fire clearance for 30 preschool children (age 2-5 years) in rooms 3 and 4 was granted 6/16/2021. The following rooms were inspected and measured: \302\267 Room 3 measured a total of 977.56 square feet \302\267 Room 4 measured a total of 977.56 square feet The rooms measured a total of 1933.12 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 55 children, however applicant is only requesting a capacity of 30 preschool children. Rooms are equipped with age appropriate furniture, including tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves, and other materials for children. Nap mats are available; however, parents are required to bring nap mats from home. There are four (4) toilets and two (2) sinks for children's use, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity. Drinking water is available in the classrooms through the use of disposable water bottles provided by the facility. The facility utilizes the health clerk\342\200\231s office located across from classrooms for an isolation area, if needed. There is not a carbon monoxide detector in facility at this time. H azardous items are stored in the kitchen area and inaccessible to children. Medications are kept in the health clerk\342\200\231s office. There is a first a id kit with required supplies. Breakfast, snacks and lunch are provided by the facility. Facility utilizes Six Crickets digital program for sign in and out. See continuation on LIC809C\342\200\246 The outdoor activity space measured a total of 6470.17 square feet, which is sufficient to accommodate 86 preschool children. The outdoor activity space is fenced with sand for cushioning around and under the climbing structure with trees and canopies for shade. Drinking water is readily available via disposable water bottles. Proper supervision and placement of staff during outdoor activities was advised to ensure the safety of children in care at all times. Corrections needed by 6/28/2021: \302\267 Proof of an operational carbon monoxide detector \302\267 Updated LIC610, LIC309, LIC200A \302\267 Plan of operation for the licensed preschool program to include the unlicensed special needs preschool program on the outdoor activity space No deficiencies issued during today's visit. An exit interview was conducted with the director. The following reports were discussed and provided during the exit interview: LIC809, LIC809C, Appeal Rights and Notice of Site Visit. The Notice of Site Visit shall be posted for 30 days from today's date. A capacity increase for 30 preschool children (age 3\342\200\2235 years) in rooms 3 and 4 will be granted once proof of correction and updated paperwork is received by CCL.
