What the inspector wrote

On October 2, 2025, at 12:45 p.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Angela Nguyen conducted an unannounced Annual/ Random Inspection. LPA met with Facility Representative, Natalija Worrell and disclosed the purpose of the inspection and toured the indoors and outdoors of the facility. Classroom #1 has (10) napping children being supervised by (1) teacher. Classroom #2 has (8) napping children being supervised by (1) teacher. This facility operates all day from Monday \342\200\223 Friday from 7:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. This program operates following the yearly schedule of Alpine Unified School District. Furniture and equipment are in good condition. Floors in classrooms #1 and #2 are clean and safe. Classroom #1 has (2) toilet and (1) sink. Classroom #2 has (2) toilets and (1) sinks. Toilets and hand-washing equipment are in safe and sanitary operating condition. Paper towels and toilet paper are available. The bathroom is lighted and has ventilation. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and other hazardous items were made inaccessible to children in a high area inaccessible to children during time of inspection. The facility provides breakfast, lunch, and snack. Food is prepared and delivered to the program from the district office from the main kitchen at the middle school. Menus are posted monthly and posted in the classroom. Both classrooms have a carbon monoxide detector that meet requirements. The last fire drill was conducted and documented on 08/29/2025. Last disaster drill were conducted and documented on 09/25/2025. Facility Representative stated that there are no swimming pools or other bodies of water, firearms or ammunition allowed or stored on the premises. On 09/24/2025, Facility Representative submitted a written request to inspect the new outdoor play area located in the back of the classrooms. LPA inspected and measured the fenced outdoor play area total at 9882.42 square feet sufficient to accommodate the current capacity of 30 children.The outdoor play area is age appropriate (2-5 years), has rubber padding cushioning surrounding the play structure and shade provided by a canopy over the sand area and nearby classrooms. Facility Representative stated drinking water is available in the classrooms via filtered water that are located and children bring their individual refillable water bottles outdoors. Additional filtered water dispense will be installed and available during outdoor activities. Facility Representative stated that all employee\342\200\231s working at this preschool have received criminal record clearance with the Alpine Unified School District. Facility Representative stated that all employees working at this preschool have obtained a health screening and TB as a condition of employment with the Alpine Unified School District Capacity and limitations as specified on the license are being maintained. Children are under supervision, including visual supervision, of a teacher at all times. Facility maintains a ratio of one teacher supervising no more than (12) children in care. Facility Representative's CPR and Pediatric First Aid expires on 8/13/2027. The name of the facility representative and the fully qualified teacher designated to act in the facility representative\342\200\231s absence has been reported to the Department. LPA reviewed facility sign in /sign out sheets. Facility utilizes a physical sign in/out sheet. Facility Representative was reminded that the person who signs the child in and out of the facility shall use their full legal signature and record the time of day. LPA reviewed a sample of children\342\200\231s files and observed files were complete with contact information for authorized representative and or relatives or others who can assume responsibility for the child and medical assessment. LPA reviewed a sample of staff files and observed files were complete with health screening, immunization records for influenza, pertussis and measles and current documentation of completed mandated reporter training. LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. A Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213) was given to Facility Representative, Natalija Worrell and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days. LPA observed LIC 9213 was posted. Appeal Rights (LIC 9058) was provided. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. An exit interview was conducted and the report was reviewed with Facility Representative, Natalija Worrell.
