Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On April 7, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Leilani Curtis conducted an unannounced case management inspection in reference to the Licensee\342\200\231s request to use the front patio as a temporary playground while the facility playground is being remodeled. Upon arrival LPA met with Area Manager Linda Hernandez and Mariela Resendiz Ochoa and proceeded to tour the facility to ensure that it is safe for the care and supervision of children. Also present were 2 staff with 4 children. Appropriate capacity and ratio were observed. Staff members have the required background clearances and are associated to the facility. The area director states that the construction on the existing playground will take 12 to 16 weeks to complete. The infant children in classroom #4 will use the front patio as a playground on a scheduled rotating basis until construction is completed. During construction the children will be kept safe from debris via hazard fencing installed by the construction company and mesh fencing installed by the facility. The area manager understands that the remodeled playground will not be used until it has been inspected and approved by Community Care Licensing. During today\342\200\231s inspection LPA measured the infant portion of the front patio. The patio is 642.81 sq. ft. and will accommodate 8 children. Prior to licensure the following correction must be made: Licensee will install a fence at least 48 inches high to separate the temporary preschool playground from the temporary infant center playground. The facility will also install umbrella's to be used for shade on the patio. A waiver request for the outdoor patio/play area must be submitted and approved. The waiver request will include the class playground schedule. An exit interview was conducted with Area Manager Hernandez and appeal rights (LIC 9058 1/16) were discussed. LIC 9213 NOTICE OF SITE VISIT FORM IS REQUIRED TO BE POSTED FOR 30 DAYS. LPA observed the area manager post notice of site visit.
