What the inspector wrote

On 6/21/21 at 11:15 a.m., Licensing Program Analyst Adrian Castellon met with Director Maria Barrera for the purpose of conducting an unannounced annual inspection. Licensee Barrera was not present at the time of LPA Castellon arrival. She arrived 15 minutes after LPA Castellon's arrival. There were 4 children with one cleared staff member present in the church nursery. The nursery and entire building has been fire cleared. Rooms 101, 012, and 103 are approved for daycare purposes. The classrooms are currently being renovated and are not ready for child care purposes. The renovation will be completed by July 10 2021. Program operates Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. LPA toured the facility. The furniture, books, games and toys are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. Rooms were a comfortable temperature during this visit. No hazards were noted. All storage containers and trashes have tight fitting lids and are in good repair. There is a kitchen which is clean and sanitary with all food stored properly, per regulation. Menus are posted. Hand washing and toileting areas are in a safe, sanitary and in operating condition. Medications are kept in a safe place, inaccessible to children. Poisons, disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other items that are dangerous to children have been made inaccessible. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. Outdoor play area is fully fenced with sufficient cushioning. Playground equipment and outdoor surfaces are in a safe condition No hazards were noted. There are no bodies of water, firearms or ammunition on the property. The carbon monoxide detector is operational. LPA reviewed, sign in/out sheets, a sample of personnel records for a health screening and on-the-job training. A sample of children's records for emergency information and a medical assessment. Children are evaluated upon entry and monitored throughout the day for signs of illness. The isolation area for ill children awaiting pick up is the Director's office. There are several staff present with current CPR and First Aid certification. SB 792 (staff immunizations) and AB 1207 (Mandated Reporter Training) requirements have been met. Facility is reminded the Mandated Reporter Training is to be retaken every two years and can be accessed at the following website: www.mandatedreporterca.com . This facility does not provide Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. Facility is using an unauthorized space for child care purposes. NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS POSTED DURING THIS VISIT AND WILL REMAIN POSTED FOR 30 DAYS.
