What the inspector wrote

On March 16, 2022 at 1:00 PM , Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Marie Hernandez conducted an unannounced required annual inspection of the facility. LPA met with the morning Facility Director, Layla Diriye and the evening facility director, Nadia Sheikh. The Director Layla accompanied LPA during the inspection of the facility including the play yard. Present during the inspection are eighteen children with four staff. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Room 1, Room 2, and Room 3 were inspected. The classrooms are equipped with appropriate furniture and napping equipment (cots) including tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves, and other materials for the children. Room 2 has a restroom that is equipped with one toilet and one sink and there is another restroom located before entering Room 3 that is equipped with one toilet and one sink. There are a total of 2 toilets and 2 sinks available for the children's use. There was a least one qualified lead teacher in each classroom. The appropriate ratios and capacity were observed. The furniture and equipment are in good condition; free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. The drinking water is readily accessible to children during the inspection. The disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and other hazardous items are inaccessible to children via latches, locks and/or placed up on high surfaces. No bodies of water were observed during the inspection. The Director states there are no firearms or weapons present at this facility. All toilets and hand washing facilities are in good repair and sanitary. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks are provided by the facility. All storage containers for solid waste have tight-fitting covers that are kept on, and in good repair. The outdoor play area is fully fenced and contains sufficient amount of cushioning to absorb a child's fall. The sign in/sign out sheets are maintained. All required documents are posted. Children\342\200\231s files were reviewed for medical assessment. Present staff (during inspection) criminal record clearances, records were reviewed and contained documentation of educational background, training, and/or experience. Several present staff members on site had current CPR/First Aid certification. Immunization records per SB792 was reviewed and in compliance. Mandated Reporter certificates per AB1207 were reviewed and in compliance. The Mandated Reporter (AB1207) certification must be renewed every two years. The fire/disaster drills have been maintained. The last fire/disaster drill was conducted and documented on 10/01/2021. The carbon monoxide detector was tested and in good working order. The restrooms were clean and in good working order during the inspection. The food service area was clean and there was sufficient food items. The menus were posted. The child roster was maintained. The COVID-19 documents were posted in the day care. The first aid kit has the required items and the manual. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services (IMS). LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. Licensee is aware that an IMS plan is required to be submitted to the licensing office if they provide any of these services. The Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, who provide care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA reviewed with Director the LIC 311-A, Forms/Records To Keep In Your Child Care Center, children\342\200\231s forms/records, facility forms/records, and information to be posted. Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters and other important information communication platform. No deficiency cited during today's inspection. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the facility director, Layla Diriye. The Notice of Site Visit is to be posted for 30 days. LPA observed the Director post notice of site visit.
