What the inspector wrote

On 6/18/2021 at 12:50pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Martha Malane conducted a case management inspection for the purpose of addressing the facility's application to add a Toddler Option for 8 children age 18 months – 36 months to the existing preschool license. LPA met with Director, Diana Gomez and proceeded to tour the facility. There were two (2) children and two (2) staff members present during the inspection. The current capacity of 54 will remain the same with a change to 46 preschool children age 2 – 5 years and 8 toddler children age 18 months – 36 months. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday 7:00am - 6:00pm. LPA found the facility to be operating beyond the limits specified on their license as there were two (2) children under the age of two years old in care. The toddler class, classroom #3, was previously measured at 366.66 square feet, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 8 toddler children (age 18 months – 36 months). There is a changing table within arm’s reach a sink. The restroom is located next to classroom #3 and the director understands toddler children must be escorted to the restroom and supervision is required at all times. There is a separate outdoor activity area for toddlers. The outdoor activity area measured 2163.06 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 8 toddlers. Age appropriate toys, equipment and supplies are available. A fire clearance was granted 03/25/2021 for 55 children age 18 months – 5 years. Classrooms are equipped with appropriate furniture including tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves, mats for napping and other material for children. Children's restrooms and hand washing facilities are sanitary. Drinking water is readily accessible inside and outside classrooms through the use of water pitchers and disposable cups. Continued on LIC809C… Disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other hazardous items are inaccessible to children through the use of gates, latches and locks. There is an operational smoke and a carbon monoxide detector at the facility. The outdoor activity space is fenced with adequate material for cushioning and equipped with canopies and trees for shade. The preschool playground has equipment designed for children ages 2-5 years and is off limits to children in the toddler option program. No bodies of water observed at the facility at this time. See LIC809D for deficiencies cited during today's inspection. Applicant’s request for a change to 46 preschool children (age 2 – 5 years) in classrooms 1, 2, 4 and 5 with a Toddler Option of 8 children (age 18 months – 36 months) in classroom 3 is granted effective today’s date 6/18/21 . An exit interview was conducted, and the director was provided a copy of reports, LIC809, LIC809C, LIC809D, LIC9058 appeal rights, LIC9102AN and Notice of Site Visit LIC9213. The notice of site visit must be posted for 30 days; LPA observed director post Notice of Site Visit.
