What the inspector wrote

On March 4, 2026, at 12:15 p.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Angela Nguyen conducted an unannounced Annual inspection. LPA met with Licensee, Jennifer Mauzy and disclosed the purpose of inspection. LPA was led on a tour of the inside and outside the facility by the licensee. The facility serves children ages 2-5 and operates in three (3) classrooms. There were eight (8) napping children being supervised by two (2) staff member in the PreK room. Hours of operation are Monday \342\200\223 Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The rooms were clean, orderly and a comfortable temperature during this visit. Adequate ventilation and heating are available. The furniture, books, games, and toys are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. There is a variety of activities available throughout the day. All toilets and hand washing facilities were observed to be in safe and sanitary operating condition. The floors in the facility were observed to clean and safe. Napping equipment is sufficient for each child, bedding is stored separately, and cots are disinfected after use. Facility has ensured that there is adequate space between cots for easy passage and they are not blocking entrances or exits. Solid waste storage containers were observed to have tight-fitting covers and in good repair. Poisons, disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other items that are dangerous to children have been made inaccessible. Drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors. Children bring their own water bottles and filtered water is available. LPA observed areas around high climbing equipment to have sufficient cushioning material (rubber chips) surrounding the play structure and slide. Shade was observed in the outdoor activity space by the use of umbrellas. All required forms were posted. This facility does not provide transportation. The facility provides AM/PM snack. The children bring their own lunch. There is a kitchen which is clean and sanitary. Staff assisting with food are using proper personal hygiene and food service practices. Food has been stored separately from any chemicals or cleaning products. The facility has a functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detector and a first aid kit that meet statutory requirements. The last fire drill and earthquake drill was conducted and documented on 02/17/2026. Licensee stated that there are no swimming pools or other bodies of water, firearms or ammunition allowed or stored on the premises. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Capacity and limitations as specified on the license are being maintained. Children are under supervision, including visual supervision, of a teacher at all times. Facility maintains a ratio of one teacher supervising no more than twelve (12) children in care. At least one person trained in CPR and Pediatric First Aid is present when children are at the facility. The name of the facility representative and the fully qualified teacher designated to act in the facility representative\342\200\231s absence has been reported to the Department. LPA reviewed facility sign in /sign out sheets. Facility utilizes the Brightwheel Application. Director was reminded that the person who signs the child in and out of the facility shall use their full legal signature and record the time of day. LPA reviewed a sample of children\342\200\231s files and observed files were complete with contact information for authorized representative and or relatives or others who can assume responsibility for the child and medical assessment. LPA reviewed a sample of staff files and observed files were complete with health screening, immunization records for influenza, pertussis and measles. Two out of five staff members have not completed mandated reporter training. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP). LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP . Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP . When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. A Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213) was given to the licensee, Jennifer Mauzy and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee, Jennifer Mauzy.
