Facility-requested visit·June 26, 2024

On 06/26/2024 at 2:40pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Selina Siao conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for an increase in capacity. Upon arrival, LPA met with Director Erica Serrano and Licensee Connie Serrano. Applicant is requesting to be licensed for 33 preschoolers (ages 2 to 5 years old) in classroom #2 and adding classroom #3 and 12 toddlers (ages 18 to 36 months) in classroom #1. Facility operates Monday to Friday 7am to 5:30pm. Present during today\342\200\231s inspection were 10 children in the preschool room #2 supervised by two staff members. And there was 1 toddler at the playground supervised by one staff. Appropriate ratios and supervision were observed. All staff members has the required background clearances and are associated to the facility. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA informed Erica Serrano that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities. LPA continued to tour the facility and measured new additional indoor activity space. Total indoor activity space for the preschool measured to be 1102.47 square feet which is sufficient for 31 preschoolers. The toddler indoor activity space was previously measured to be 471.51 square feet, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 12 Children. The total licensed capacity for toddlers and preschooler is 43 children. LPA observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via the children's own water bottles and it gets refill with the filter water that is in the classroom. There is a changing table next to a sink in the toddler room #1. LPA observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. Director stated that there are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on 06/21/2024. LPA observed a total of 6 sinks and 3 toilets available for the preschool children\342\200\231s use and Director stated that the toddlers do not get potty train until they move up to the preschool component. These are sufficient to accommodate the capacity of 43 children. The facility currently has a fully fenced playground area. Chain link fencing is at least four feet high. The total square footage for all the outdoor activity space was previously measured to be 7093.52 square feet, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity. There is an approved outdoor playground waiver for the preschool children and toddlers to share the area by scheduling. Shade is provided via a large tree and large shade tarp area. There are sufficient outdoor age-appropriate toys and play equipment available on the playground. There is no climbing structure at the playground. Drinking water is available via the children's own water bottle that gets refill with filtered water. No hazardous item is accessible to children. Director was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing. Facility shall submit an updated application LIC200A to reflect the allowable capacity of 31 preschooler (ages 2 to 5) and 12 toddlers (ages 18 to 36 months) and total capacity is 43 by 06/27/2024. A license for 43 children will be granted effective today.
