What the inspector wrote

On 1/26/23 at 9:30am an office meeting was conducted with Licensee Gilberto Hernandez, Jimenna Barrull and Director, Corina Tellez to discuss the deficiency cited on 12/14/22. Present at the meeting was Licensing Program Managers (LPMs), Tulam Vu and Cynthia Gray and Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Michelle Hood and Martha Malane. On 12/14/22, during a case management inspection, the following deficiency was cited: \302\267 Type A 101229(a)(1) Responsibility for Providing Care and Supervision \342\200\223 facility staff allowed children to walk to and from the restroom unsupervised leaving children without the visual supervision of a staff member at all times. It is noted that the licensee corrected the deficiency in a timely manner. Licensee conducted a staff training to ensure children are supervised and escorted to and from the restroom. In addition, licensee installed a retractable baby gate at the door leading to the Patio 1 area and restroom. LPM discussed with Licensee Representatives the seriousness of the above deficiency. Licensee representatives were provided with the following resources: A Technical Support Program (TSP) brochure, for questions related to the TSP, email: childcaretechnicalsupport@dss.ca.gov , Best Practices \342\200\223 Lack of Supervision, ccld.childcarevideos.org, Advocate information was provided: (714)-703-2800 or childcareadvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov, sdincidentreports@dss.ca.gov and the Duty Line (619)-767-2248. LPM also discussed the pending application for an increase of capacity from 30 to 39. LPA granted the capacity increase effective today, 1/26/2023. Licensee Representatives were informed that repeated violations or failure to comply with licensing laws and regulations may result in administrative action taken by the Department. Licensee Representatives, Gilberto Hernandez and Jimenna Barrull stated they understood and will ensure the facility complies with all regulations and laws governing Child Care Centers. A copy of this report was provided to the licensee.
