What the inspector wrote

On 6/6/2025 at 9:00am, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA\342\200\231s), Cindy Meier and Raina Alexanian conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for an increase in capacity and an outdoor activity space waiver. Upon arrival, LPA met with Director, Corina Tellez. The facility is currently licensed to care for a total of 39 children, ages 2 to Kindergarten, in Classrooms A and B. Days and hours of operation are Monday \342\200\223 Friday, 7:30 a.m. \342\200\223 4:00 p.m. There are two classrooms in operation: Room A and B. The following ratios were observed: no children present, director, and four (4) staff members. There were no children present due to parent conferences being conducted. Appropriate ratios and supervision were observed. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA informed director, Corina Tellez, staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities. Furniture and equipment in the classrooms were observed to be in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. Toilet and hand washing equipment are in safe and sanitary operating condition. Floors in the facility are clean and safe. Solid waste storage containers have tight-fitting covers and are in good repair. Drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors. The surface of the outdoor activity space and playground equipment is maintained, is in safe condition and is free of hazards. There is sufficient cushioning to absorb falls under and around play equipment. The playground area includes a shaded rest area for children through the use of shade sails, trees, and building awning. Facility has a functioning carbon monoxide detector that meets statutory requirements. The last fire/disaster drill was conducted and documented on 5/22/25. The facility provides snacks, and parental representative provides lunch for the child. Menus are posted monthly. Food preparation areas are clean and safe. Notation of children\342\200\231s allergies is accessible. All food is protected against contamination and any contaminated food is discarded immediately. Director stated there are no bodies of water on the premises and LPA did not observe any bodies of water. Director stated there are no firearms, weapons, or ammunition allowed or stored on the premises. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible to children. No poisons were observed during the inspection. Licensee is requesting to increase capacity to forty-two (42) children, ages 2 to Kindergarten. A fire clearance was granted on 3/24/2025 for forty-two (42) children. The licensee submitted a request for a waiver for outdoor activity space to accommodate forty-two (42) children. The current outdoor activity spaces previously measured a total of 2,979.85 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate thirty-nine (39) children. The facility will utilize a rotating schedule to accommodate the forty-two (42) children. There are sufficient toilets and sinks to accommodate forty-five (45) children. The requested waiver states that all outdoor space is being utilized and there is no other space available. An increase in capacity, for forty-two (42) children, ages 2 through Kindergarten is granted effective today, 6/6/2025. A waiver for outdoor activity space is granted effective today, 6/6/25. Terms of the outdoor activity space include a maximum of twenty-four (24) children utilizing the playground at a time, following the rotating schedule submitted, and other conditions stated on the waiver. A Notice of Site Visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Director, Corina Tellez.
