What the inspector wrote

On 8/19/22 at 11:45am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Martha Malane arrived at the facility to conduct a pre-licensing inspection. LPA met with Facility Representative, Danielle Cavanaugh and Site Director, Carolina Espinoza and was led on a tour the facility. Applicant is requesting a capacity of 21 children (age 3 \342\200\223 5 years) in Room 101. Applicant\342\200\231s planned hours of operation are Monday - Friday 6:30am \342\200\223 5:30pm. The indoor space measured a total of square 756 feet which is sufficient to accommodate 21 children. Room 101 is equipped with age appropriate furniture and equipment including tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves and other materials for children. There are seven (7) toilets and four (4) sinks available for use, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity. There is a restroom in the classroom and two (2) additional restrooms on the east side of the building next to Room 101. Drinking water is available outdoors and indoors via water jugs and refillable water bottles brought from home. There is a separate restroom for staff located in the office. The staff restroom will be utilized as an isolation restroom and the isolation area is located next to the director\342\200\231s desk. Disinfectants and cleaning solutions are kept inaccessible in a cabinet near to the director\342\200\231s desk. Facility utilizes manual sign in and sign out sheets. Required documents are posted. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector. The outdoor activity space for preschool children was inspected and measured a total 10046.44 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate the request capacity. The outdoor space is fenced and shade is provided through the use of a canopy and building awning. The play structure did not have a sticker with age usage. Facility representative stated she will submit proof of age usage to CCL prior to utilizing the structure. Areas under high climbing equipment and slides have rubber cushioning material to absorb falls. Proper supervision and placement of staff outside was discussed to ensure the safety of children at all times. LPA and facility representative discussed water testing in child care centers and LPA provided an Effects of Lead Exposure flyer. Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters and other important information communication platform. To receive important licensed-related information to licensed facilities, visit the CCLD Important Information website at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/community-care-licensing/subscribe and select the Child Care option to receive email communication. A fire clearance for 60 children (age 2 \342\200\223 5 years) was granted 7/5/22. Prior to licensure the following is needed: 1) Waiver approval to share outdoor activity space 2) Waiver approval to share restrooms 3) Proof of age usage for play structure on outdoor activity space Exit interview was conducted with Facility Representative, Danielle Cavanaugh. Once the listed requirements have been met and proof submitted to CCL, a license may be granted after a final file review.
