What the inspector wrote

On April 15 th , 2026, at 9:30 AM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) David Nguyen and Lauren Scott met with Facility Representative, Maurisa Buzo for the purpose of a case management inspection to increase the facility’s capacity. The facility is requesting to increase from twenty-four (24) to twenty-eight (28) for children ages 18-month-through-five-year-old. The facility's hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The fire clearance was granted on 04/10/2026 by Stockton Fire Department. There were no children present during today’s inspection. LPAs conducted a health and safety inspection in all areas accessible to 18-month-old-through-5-year-old children. There are two (2) existing classrooms: Preschool Classroom (A1) and Toddler Classroom (A2). LPAs measured all two (2) classrooms during today’s inspection. The total number of square feet in each classroom is as follows: Preschool Classroom (A1) = 891.25 Toddler Classroom (A2) = 891.25. The total classroom space of all two (2) classrooms combined contains a total of 1,782.50 square feet, which will accommodate the requested capacity of 28 children (20 preschoolers in Classroom A1 and 8 Toddlers in Classroom A2). There are four (4) toilets and four (4) sinks available for children, and a separate staff restroom is available. Children who become ill during the day will be isolated in the office area and will use the staff restroom, if necessary. Report continues on LIC809-C... (Page 2) (Page 2) The child care center was observed be clean, safe, sanitary and in good repair at all times to ensure the safety and well-being of children, employees and visitors. Facility Representative discussed more furniture and equipment will be moved to the facility prior to children starting in the program. LPA discussed having an efficient number of chairs and tables, as well as a space for all children to store their individual, personal belongings. A functional carbon monoxide detector was observed in the facility. LPAs observed the smoke detectors in the ceilings and a functional carbon monoxide detector. Proper storage of disinfectants and medications was discussed. Facility representative discussed using electronic sign-in/sign-out and papers. There are two (2) outdoor areas on the property designated for both toddler and preschool children. The outdoor play area is fenced with a chain-link fence that is at least four feet tall. The preschool yard has a play structure with a safety label and age rating for children ages 2 years to 5 years. The toddler play yard does not have a climbing structure, but the permanent play features have a safety label and age rating that also states ages 2 to 5 years. Facility understands, no children under the age of 2 can use the equipment labeled 2 to 5 years. Facility representative was reminded to follow the safety label and adhere to the age rating. There is shaded area supplied by sun shade structure in the play yard. LPAs measured the two outdoor yards. The outdoor preschool yard contains a total of 6,315.29 square feet, which will accommodate the Licensee's request for 20 preschoolers. The outdoor toddler yard contains a total of 2,321.83 square feet, which will accommodate the Licensee's request for 8 toddlers. Facility representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the facility representative, Maurisa Buzo. LPAs grant the license for twenty-eight (28) children—twenty (20) preschoolers and eight (8) toddlers—as of 04/15/2026.
