Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 5/28/26, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Sarah Tibbett and Deborah Khashe met with Licensee, Shazia Khan, for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. There were no children present at the time of inspection. Licensee's operating hours are Monday through Sunday, 24 hrs. LPA verified the annual fees are current. A health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off-limits areas include laundry room and garage. Off limit areas are being made inaccessible by closed doors, gates, and supervision. LPA observed the required postings and a working phone. LPA observed a current roster and documentation that a fire drill is conducted at least once every six months. 2A10BC fire extinguisher meets regulations. LPA observed dual smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and verified they were functional. LPA toured the kitchen area and discussed moving knives and cleaners to an area inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed living room area with age appropriate toys for children. LPA observed a restroom and discussed moving hazardous and toxic items to an area inaccessible to children in care. Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. There are no bodies of water on the premises. The outdoor back deck play space is fenced. Report continues on 809-C... LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. In addition, LPA discussed 15min infant napping logs for infants 24 months and under. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Children's files were reviewed. Emergency information and required immunization records were on file. Licensee's immunization records for measles (MMR), pertussis (Tdap), and the flu are available in the facility file and LPA discussed obtaining staff immunization records. Current in-person EMSA pediatric CPR and First Aid certification was verified and expires 4/2028 and Child Care Provider Mandated Reporter certification was verified and expires 6/2026. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02- CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. During the exit interview, the Licensee, Shazia Khan, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Licensee, Shazia Khan. Appeal rights were given and a Notice of Site Visit was posted and must remain posted for 30 days. In the areas that were evaluated, LPA Tibbett informed Licensee, Shazia Khan, that this report dated 5/28/26 documents 2 Type B citations during today’s inspection.
