What the inspector wrote

On August 21, 2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Stacey Williams met with Licensee, Teresa Rosas for an unannounced 1 Year Required inspection. There were six children present in the home during the inspection. All individuals subject to criminal record review have obtained clearance. Licensee\342\200\231s childcare operation hours are Mon-Wed 7:00AM-5:00PM, with no overnight care. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA toured areas of the home accessible to the children. The off-limit areas of home are: entire upstairs, side yard, and garage. The backyard is fenced and Licensee acknowledges that children may never be left unsupervised in an unfenced area of the yard. There are no bodies of water on the property. LPA observed the required licensing postings. LPA conducted file reviews during today\342\200\231s inspection. Licensee and her Assistant\342\200\231s file was reviewed. LPA provided Licensee with website: http://childcare.mandatedreporterca.com/ and reminded the licensee that the training must be completed once every two years. LPA observed records of immunizations. LPA reviewed the client roster. LPA observed that hazardous items: detergents, cleaning compounds, medication, sharp utensils, and other items that could pose a danger to children in care, are properly stored out of children's reach. Stairs were properly barricaded. LPA observed a working telephone in the home. Licensee stated that there are no weapons or pets in the home. LPA observed a fire extinguisher that meets regulatory standards. Carbon monoxide and smoke detectors were tested and observed to be functional. LPA observed fire drills documented and indicated that the licensee is conducting disaster drills at least once every 6 months. Equipment and furnishings in areas where children are active appeared to be safe and in working order. Appropriate nap equipment was observed. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02- CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. During the exit interview, the Licensee, Teresa Rosas confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.
