What the inspector wrote

On April 20, 2026, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Deborah Khashe and Katy Velasquez met with Licensee, Tami Gamez for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. Present today was licensee's assistants Faith Gamez and Emily Packston. There were seven (7) children present at the start of inspection more children arrived during inspection. Licensee's operating hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM. to 6:00 PM. LPA Khashe verified all fees are current. All adults subject to criminal background review have obtained criminal record clearance, except one employee, who turned 18 years of age. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. A health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off limit areas include all areas outside the fenced yard, bedroom #1 and master bedroom. LPAs observed the required postings and a working phone. 2A10BC fire extinguisher meets regulations. LPAs observed smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and verified they were both functional. LPAs toured the kitchen area and verified knives in the kitchen sink were accessible to children in care. LPAs observed playroom area with age appropriate toys for children. LPAsobserved a restroom and verified that hazardous and toxic items were inaccessible to children in care. Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. Outdoor play space is fenced. LPAs observed a covered spa in the backyard which meets Title 22 Regulations. The spa is covered, equipped with a locked arm bar. Report Continues on LIC809-C...... Children's files were reviewed. One child file was missing. No files for children contained required immunization blue card .Emergency information was on file. LPAs reminded Licensee to maintain a current roster and discussed documentation of a fire drill being conducted at least once every six months. Licensee's immunization records were not available in the facility file. Current EMSA pediatric CPR and First Aid certification was reviewed. LPAs reminded licensee that Child Care Provider Mandated Reporter training must be completed and renewed every two years for all staff. LPAs discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPAs discussed the requirement to check and log infant napping every 15 minutes for infants 24 months and under. LPAs reminded Licensee that no loose articles and or attachments can be in or on play yard or cribs. LPAs also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. This provider is not currently providing Incidental Medical Services (IMS) services to children in care. IMS policy was discussed. Report Continues on LIC809-C...... Licensee understands that licenses are not transferable, and once licensed, licensee must live in the home and be present for 80% of the operating hours. Applicant understands that if an unusual incident occurs, licensing is to be notified via phone call, e-mail or fax within 24 hours, and the Unusual Incident Report LIC 624 shall be submitted within 7 days to remain in compliance. Applicant understands that if any structural changes are made to the home, licensing must be notified prior to construction. Licensee understands that if they want to make any off-limit area an ON-limits area, they must notify licensing, and LPA must do an inspection BEFORE children are allowed in the area. Licensee understands that children’s records are to be maintained according to Title 22 regulations and be accessible to licensing for up to three years. Also, LPA Khashe informed the licensee Gamez to provide a copy of this licensing report dated 04/20/206 that documents any Type-A citation(s) to parents/guardians of all children currently enrolled by the next business day or the next day the children are in care, and to any newly enrolled parents/guardians for 12 months from the date of this report. A signed Acknowledgement of Receipt of Licensing Report (LIC 9224), or other written statement, must be placed in the child's file for verification. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee, Tami Gamez. A notice of site visit was provided and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.
