On January 8, 2025, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Elizabeth Santiago met with Licensee, Hanna Ward for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. There were twelve children present at the start of inspection and an adult assistant. Licensee's operating hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM . LPA verified all fees are current. All adults subject to criminal background review have obtained criminal record clearance. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. A health and safety inspection were conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off limit areas consist of the master bedroom/bathroom, pet room, and garage. Licensee requested for backyard to be off limits. License e acknowledged that children are never allowed in the off limit areas. Off limit areas will remain inaccessible by door handle covers, locked closed doors and supervision. Licensee understands that 100% supervision is required when children play any unfenced areas . LPA observed the required postings and a working phone. 2A10BC fire extinguisher meets regulations. LPA observed smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and verified they were both functional. LPA toured the kitchen area and verified knives were inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed play room area with age appropriate toys for children. There is a fireplace in the living room that is secured with a screened door. LPA observed a restroom and verified that hazardous and toxic items were inaccessible to children in care . Licensee stated there are weapons in the home. LPA verified that weapons and ammunition were stored in separate locked safes. Continues on LIC809-C...... ........Continued from LIC-809........(Page 2) The backyard has an in-ground pool area that is fenced per Title 22 regulations and LPA observed the gate to self-close and self-latch. There are no windows or doors that provide direct access into the pool area. Children's files were reviewed. Emergency information and required immunization records were on file. LPA observed documentation that a fire drill is conducted at least once every six months. LPA discussed current roster. Licensee's immunization records are available in the facility file. Current EMSA pediatric CPR and First Aid certification was verified and expires on 08/2026 and Child Care Provider Mandated Reporter certification was verified and expires on 01/2025. Licensee provided copy of liability insurance which is $300,000 for every occurrence. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. LPA discussed the requirement to check and log infant napping every 15 minutes. LPA discussed copies of LIC 9227 Individual Sleeping Plan for infants under 12 months. This provider is not currently providing Incidental Medical Services (IMS) services to children in care. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. During the exit interview, Licensee confirmed that there are no registered sex offenders (RSO) living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in the Field Automation System. A notice of site visit was provided and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.
