What the inspector wrote

On September 24, 2025, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Lauren Scott and Janie Davis met with Early Childhood Education Director, Kim Ballard, for the purpose of a case management inspection to increase the facility\342\200\231s capacity. The facility is requesting for a capacity increase from 24 to 44 preschool children ages two years to entry into kindergarten. The facility's hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:45 PM. The fire clearance for 44 children was granted on 09/15/2025. LPA conducted a health and safety inspection of all accessible areas. There is 1 existing classrooms (not labeled). The licensee is adding 1 additional preschool classroom (#11). Previous measurements of the 1 existing classroom was used from the report dated 07/31/2025 totaling 1,089.38 square feet. The 1 new classrooms contain a total of 1,197 square feet. The total classroom space contains a total of 1,986.06 square feet, which will accommodate the requested capacity of 44 children. There are 5 toilets and 5 sinks available to children (Shared Girl's Restroom location with Elementary School- there is a shared bathroom waiver on file), and a separate staff restroom is available. Children who become ill during the day will be isolated in the office and will use the staff restroom, if necessary. The child care center was observed be clean, safe, sanitary and in good repair. Furniture and equipment were observed to be sufficient in quantity, maintained in good condition. Tables and chairs were observed to be meet the needs of the children. All play equipment and materials used by children were observed to be age-appropriate. Carbon monoxide detectors are in the ceilings. Disinfectants and medications were observed to be inaccessible and appropriately stored. LPA observed electronic sign-in/sign-out system. Report continues on 809-C. There is outdoor areas on the elementary campus that will be shared with the Transitional Kindergarten students. There is a shared waiver on file. The outdoor play area is fenced with cement walls and wrought iron fences that are at least four feet tall. There is a play structure with a safety label and age rating for children ages 2 years to 5 years. LPA observed sufficient amount of equipment and toys. LPA used the preschool yard measurements from report dated 07/31/2025. The outdoor preschool yard contains a total of 11,743.90 square feet, which will accommodate the Licensee's request for 44 preschool children. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Early Childhood Education Director, Kim Ballard. As of today, September 25, 2025, Facility is licensed for 44 children.
