What the inspector wrote

On 9/7/2021 at 1:25pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Melissa Stewart conducted an unannounced, Required- 1 year inspection and met with Director, Catherine Evenson outside of the Child Care Center (CCC). LPA conducted a Risk Assessment for COVID19 and all answers indicated no recent exposure to COVID19. The preschool operates, Monday - Friday, 7am - 6pm. All required forms are posted inside the classroom at the main entrance of the center and are also provided to parents via email. Snack menu is updated monthly. The center was toured inside and outside. There were two (2) staff supervising 15 napping children. Parents sign in and out via tablet. Director printed a report of the children signed in today. The number of children signed in by parents corresponded with the number of children present. The classrooms and restrooms were observed to be clean, organized and free of toxins. LPA observed indoor activity centers containing books, puzzles, manipulatives, blocks, arts and crafts and dramatic play materials. The center conducts monthly emergency and disaster drills. The most recent drill was held on 8/4/2021. The first aid kit and locked medication box are located in the kitchen which is made inaccessible to children by a safety gate. LPA observed the smoke and carbon monoxide detector in the classroom and found it to be operational. Drinking water is available both inside and outside via water jugs with disposable cups or individual water bottles brought from home. Director reported that there are no firearms, ammunition or bodies of water on the premises. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications and other items such as kitchen knives which could pose a danger to children are stored inaccessible to children. Outdoors, LPA observed age appropriate riding toys and bike path, child sized tables located under a shade tree, and artificial grass area. There are several climbing structures and a swing set with sufficient wood chips to absorb a fall. Both staff have current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification expiring 1/29/2023 and completed AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training as well as Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) annual certification. LPA reminded Director that the Mandated Reporter training must be renewed every two (2) years. Child Care Facility Roster and a sample of children\342\200\231s files were reviewed for ID and emergency information (LIC 700) and medical assessment and found to be complete. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. Director reported that that there are no children currently enrolled who require IMS. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. LPA advised that Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) Provider Information Notices (PINs), Title 22, Division 12 regulations and California Department of Public Health COVID-19 guidelines for child care programs can be accessed on-line at www.cdss.ca.gov . COVID19 Information for San Luis Obispo County can be found at https://www.emergencyslo.org/en/covid19.aspx . In all areas evaluated, no deficiencies cited. A copy of this report and appeal rights were discussed and left with Director, Catherine Evenson, whose signature on this form confirm receipt of these documents. LPA provided a Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213) to be posted. FAILURE TO POST THE NOTICE OF SITE VISIT FOR 30 DAYS MAY RESULT IN A $100.00 CIVIL PENALTY
