What the inspector wrote

On 7/21/21, at 1:01 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced Required Inspection the abovementioned Child Care Center (CCC). The LPA met with Christy Hilliard , Director of the CCC and explained the purpose of the inspection. The LPA, in the company of Director, toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The center operates from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday. This is a combined center with a preschool program . The CCC uses a single classroom for child care. LPA observed 22 children on site during the inspection along with two teachers. The classroom of the CCC is clean and organized. The classroom has age appropriate furnishings and play equipment available for children. The classroom has an operable carbon monoxide detector which was tested (1:05 PM). The bathrooms used by children are in safe and sanitary operating condition. Disinfectants and cleaning solutions are observed on an elevated shelf in the classroom which is beyond the reach of children in care. Medication is stored in a storage area inside of the staff restroom in the preschool which is secure and inaccessible to children in care. Sharps in the classroom are secure near the staff desk in the classroom. The CCC provides snacks for the children. Lunch is not served at the School Age program, however children in care bring lunch from their residences. LPA reviewed a posted menu along with licensing required notices posted predominately near the entry of the CCC. Sign In/Out forms were also reviewed and found to be completed appropriately. The CCC's outdoor playground area is enclosed by chain linked fencing. LPA observed age appropriate play equipment in the outdoor area. The play equipment are in suitable condition and free of sharp as well as loose or pointed objects. The play structures in the playground area have adequate cushioning materials (i.e. wood chips) to absorb falls and an abundance of shade. No bodies of water are observed on site. There is available drinking water for children both inside and outside of the classroom.Waste receptacles with tight fitting covers are observed throughout the center. (CONT.809-C) A sampling of staff and children records were reviewed. The children\342\200\231s records were complete and found to contain emergency contact information as well as medical assessments. Staff records were reviewed and contained health assessments. Director noted no firearms or ammunition are stored on the premises. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services (IMS). LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. The topic of face coverings was discussed in detail along with commingling. Director was reminded that it is Director's responsibility to know the regulations for a CCC which can be accessed on-line at www.ccld.ca.gov . In areas evaluated, no deficiencies observed. THE NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS POSTED AS REQUIRED BY H&S CODE SEC. 1596.817. THE NOTICE OF SITE VISIT MUST REMAIN POSTED FOR 30 DAYS OR A CIVIL PENALTY OF $100.00 WILL APPLY
