On 09/08/2025, at 1:20 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Shane Loftus conducted an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection of the above-mentioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with Margaret Dunn-Fry, Licensee of the FCCH, and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of the Licensee, toured the exterior and interior of the FCCH. The FCCH is a three-bedroom, two-bathroom, single story home. The FCCH's living room, kitchen, dining area, bathroom, garage, master bedroom and outdoor yard are used for child care services. Additionally, children pass through a guest bedroom in the home to enter the garage which is also utilized for child care services. LPA notes the master bedroom is only used as an isolation area if needed. At the time of the inspection, LPA observed nine (9) children in care (no infants), along with an assistant (spouse) providing care and supervision. Required forms are posted in the FCCH's hallway. LPA observed medication in the FCCH stored on an elevated shelf in a hallway closet as well as the master bathroom. Sharps are stored in an elevated cabinet in the kitchen. Cleaning compounds are observed on an elevated shelf in a hallway closet. LPA notes all areas are inaccessible to children in care. The FCCH has a fireplace in the living room which is screened. The bathroom used by children in care is clean and free of toxins. LPA observed smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the FCCH. Both detectors were tested (2:00 PM and 2:01 PM) and found to be operational. Continued on 809-C The FCCH has a regulation fire extinguisher which was serviced on 07/03/2025. LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. Toys, furniture and play equipment observed within the FCCH are age appropriate. The outdoor play area of the FCCH is enclosed by a combination of fencing. The fence's gates are secured. The footing in the area is varied. The outdoor area has ample shade and cushioning under play structures. Toys and play equipment observed in backyard area are age appropriate. LPA reminded the Licensee to replace play equipment and toys in the outdoor areas when such items begin to degrade or are not in good repair. LPA observed no bodies of water on site. LPA reviewed a sampling of records of children on site. The records were current and complete possessing emergency contact information and immunization records. LPA reviewed the Licensee\342\200\231s and Assistant\342\200\231s records. The records are current and complete with pedantic CPR and First Aid certifications (EMSA approved) expiring on 04/25/2027, and Mandated Reporter training certification expiring on 01/12/2026. The Licensee informed LPA no firearms or ammunition are stored on site. LPA reviewed the FCCH's fire drill log which notes the last fire drill was completed on 09/2/2025. Continued on 809-C Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. During the exit interview, the licensee confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. LPA notes no deficiencies were cited during today\342\200\231s inspection. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
