What the inspector wrote

On 4/1/25 at 12:55 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Shane Loftus conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection of the above-mentioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with Licensees Christina and Christopher Raj and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of Licensees toured the interior and exterior of the home. The home uses the living room, bathroom, and front patio for child care. LPA observed 10 children in care at the time of inspection. LPA observed required licensing forms and documents posted on the wall by the front door. LPA observed age-appropriate toys and furnishings in the FCCH. LPA observed operable smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the home. At 1:25 PM, LPA notes the fire extinguisher was purchased on 3/26/24. Licensee was reminded either to service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher (2A10BC) annually. At 1:45 PM, LPA notes the last fire/emergency drill was conducted on 6/14/24. LPA reminded licensees of the regulation to conduct and document fire/emergency drills every 6 months. The bathroom used for child care was observed to be clean and free of toxins. Sharps, cleaning supplies and medications are stored in the kitchen. The kitchen is made inaccessible to children in care by a child safety gate. The FCCH\342\200\231s front patio is used for outdoor activities. The front patio has wooden fencing, and the entry/exit points are secure. The outdoor areas toys and play equipment were observed to be age appropriate. LPA observed a covered and locked hot tub located in the backyard which is off limits to day care children. Guns and ammunition are stored separately in the FCCH in 2 different vaults, inaccessible to day care children. Continued on 809-C LPA reviewed children\342\200\231s and licensees\342\200\231 files. Licensees\342\200\231 files were current with Pediatric CPR/First Aid expiring on 8/29/25 and Mandated Reporter training expiring on 7/18/26. Children's records were reviewed and found to be current including emergency contact information, Individual Infant Sleeping Plans, and a log of 15-minute sleep checks. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. During the exit interview, the licensee confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. Type B Deficiencies are being cited based on LPA\342\200\231s observation and record review pursuant to Title 22 of the CA Code of Regulations and Health and Safety Code (refer to LIC 809-D). Licensee was provided a copy of their Appeal Rights (LIC 9058) and their signature on this form acknowledges receipt of these rights. A Notice of Site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Licensees\342\200\231, Christina and Christopher Raj.
