What the inspector wrote

On 8/26/21 at 12:20pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Melissa Stewart conducted an unannounced, Required- 1 year inspection and met with Director, Katie Mervin, in the reception area of the Child Care Center (CCC). LPA conducted a Risk Assessment for COVID19 and all answers indicated no exposure to COVID19. The center is located on the campus of Cuesta College North County (building 4000) and operates, Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 5:15pm. All required forms are posted in the main hallway which leads to two (2) preschool classrooms and one (1) toddler classroom. The center was toured inside and outside. Individual daily sign in and out sheets are located on clipboards outside of each classroom. The bi-weekly menus are also posted outside of each classroom. There were two (2) staff supervising six (6) toddlers sitting at a table in the covered patio outside of their classroom eating lunch. The classrooms and restrooms were observed to be clean, organized and free of toxins. There were 17 preschool children supervised by four (4) staff. All staff were observed to be wearing face coverings indoors. Director reported that children over the age of 2 years arrive with face coverings and are encouraged and reminded to keep them on while indoors. LPA observed indoor and outdoor activity centers containing books, puzzles, manipulatives, blocks, arts and crafts and dramatic play materials. The indoor furnishings and outdoor playground equipment was observed to be age appropriate and in safe condition, free from sharp, loose or pointed parts. Sanitizing supplies are stored in the kitchen of each classroom. Medications are stored in a locked box in or near the refrigerator of each classroom's kitchen. The center conducts monthly emergency and disaster drills. The most recent drill was held on 8/25/21. The first aid kits are stored in each classroom's emergency backpack. LPA observed a functional carbon monoxide detector plugged in to the wall of the preschool classroom. Director reported that carbon monoxide detection is also incorporated into the air filtration system. Cont. 809-C Drinking water is available both inside and outside via individual water bottles. Director reported that there are no firearms, ammunition or bodies of water on the premises. Staff have current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification expiring on 1/9/2022. Staff have met immunization requirements per SB 792 and completed AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training. LPA reminded Director that the Mandated Reporter training must be renewed every two (2) years. Child Care Facility Roster and a sample of children\342\200\231s files were reviewed and found complete. Director reported that 15 minute checks of each infant's sleep is logged by staff on the Learning Genie app which provides information about the child's daily activities to parents. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. Director reported that that there are no children currently enrolled who require IMS. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. LPA advised that Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) Provider Information Notices (PINs), Title 22, Division 12 regulations and California Department of Public Health COVID-19 guidelines for child care programs can be accessed on-line at www.cdss.ca.gov . COVID19 Information for San Luis Obispo County can be found at https://www.emergencyslo.org/en/covid19.aspx . In all areas evaluated, no deficiencies cited. A copy of this report and appeal rights were discussed and left with Director, Katie Mervin, whose signature on this form confirm receipt of these documents. LPA provided a Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213) to be posted. FAILURE TO POST THE NOTICE OF SITE VISIT FOR 30 DAYS MAY RESULT IN A $100.00 CIVIL PENALTY
