What the inspector wrote

On 6/7/21, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley and LPA Francisca Velazquez conducted an unannounced Required inspection of the abovementioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPAs met with Joann Barcellona, Licensee of the FCCH and explained the nature, scope and purpose of the inspection. LPAs, in the company of the Licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. The FCCH\342\200\231s living room, backyard and hallway restroom are used for childcare services, while remainder of the home is excluded (i.e. kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room and garage) from child care. At the time of the inspection, one child is present. The home is clean, orderly and void of hazardous items. Medication in the FCCH is stored in the home's master bathroom, while cleaning compounds are stored under the kitchen sink and in the home's garage. Both areas are excluded room care. Toys, furniture and equipment observed in the home are age appropriate. The backyard has a concrete slab and a grassy play area which is enclosed by a wooden fence. The fence\342\200\231s entry/exit gates were secure. The backyard is partitioned and separated by chain linked gate. Toys and play equipment observed in backyard are age appropriate and in satisfactory condition. No bodies of water are observed on site. A sampling of the children records were reviewed. The records are current and complete. A current roster of children was reviewed by the LPAs. The child noted in the roster is present and on site. The Licensee\342\200\231s records are also current and complete with Pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications expiring on 2/18/23. Likewise, the Licensee\342\200\231s AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training certification is current, with an expiration date of 8/12/22. Required forms are predominantly posted on the wall of the home. The home\342\200\231s living room has a fireplace (CONT. 809-C). which is screened by glass. LPAs observed operable smoke and carbon monoxide detector in the FCCH. Each detector was tested (10:50 AM and 10:51 AM). Likewise, the home has a regulation fire extinguisher which was service on 12/4/20. LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. LPA reviewed the home\342\200\231s fire/disaster drill log. The log documented monthly fire/disaster drills, with the most recent fire/disaster drill occurring on 6/4/21. The FCCH maintains an operable telephone services. The Licensee no firearms or ammunition on stored on site. The Licensee is not providing Incidental Medical Services (IMS). Policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was reminded that it is Licensee's responsibility to know the regulations for FCCH which can be accessed on-line at www.ccld.ca.gov . In areas evaluated, there were no deficiencies cited at this time. THE NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS POSTED AS REQUIRED BY H&S CODE SEC. 1596.817. THE NOTICE OF SITE VISIT MUST REMAIN POSTED FOR 30 DAYS OR A CIVIL PENALTY OF $100.00 WILL APPLY
