What the inspector wrote

On June 25, 2025, at 3:19 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Gigi Reyes conducted an unannounced Annual Random and capacity increase inspection of the above Family Childcare Home (FCCH) and met with Licensee, Lorena Arredondo LPA discussed the purpose of the inspection. FCCH operating hours Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 5:30 PM. And Saturday 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Licensee provides care for children aged 0 to 13 years old During the inspection, LPA and Licensee toured the entire home. There were 3 children present including licensee\342\200\231s child. Areas accessible to children include living room, dining room, day-care room, one bathroom and fenced backyard. Areas inaccessible to children include. kitchen, 3 bedrooms, and the personal use backyard which is barricaded to separate from children\342\200\231s play yard. The required licensing forms are posted. LPA observed age-appropriate toys and equipment inside the home. LPA reviewed the facility file and found that the Pediatric CPR and First Aid certificate expires on 4/30/2027, Mandated Reporter Training Certificate expires on 4/18/2025 LPA reminded Licensee that it is their responsibility to renew the certificates every two years. The regulation fire extinguisher was serviced on 3/20/2025. LPA observed the carbon monoxide and smoke detectors in the home which were tested and found functional. FCCH conducts fire and disaster drill every 3 months and last drill was conducted today, 6/25/2025. Licensee confirmed there are no firearms and ammunition in the home. LPA observed an above-ground pool located in the private use backyard, with the ladder removed from the pool. It was noted that there was a sensor alarm by the exit door leading to the backyard. Licensee stated the above ground pool was installed around March 2025. LPA discussed the Assembly Bill 2866 (AB 2866), Swimming Pool Safety. Children\342\200\231s files were reviewed and found complete. To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey may be sent to the email address provided. Licensee, Lorena Arredondo was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. On March 25, 2025, Licensee applied for large FCCH license. Fire safety clearance was granted on 4/8/2025. Issuance of Large FCCH License is pending for further review. During the exit interview, the Licensee confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. During today\342\200\231s inspection, no deficiency was cited. Due to time constraint, the inspection will continue at a later date. Notice of Site Visit was issued and must be posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee, Lorena Arredondo. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee, the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Licensee is not providing Incidental Medical Services (IMS). IMS policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP.
