Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 9/23/2022, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Hanson Leong and Brendon Van, made an announced case management visit to the Highlands Christian facility. Rosie Morales, the director, has requested a visit from the department in order to obtain a temporary outdoor waiver. The LPAs were granted entry by the director. The LPAs explained the purpose of the visit to the director. Guardian, the department's system for conducting background checks, has confirmed that all the individuals listed on the facility\342\200\231s roster have been granted permission to work or be present in a childcare facility. The LPAs observed thirteen teachers supervising fifty-nine preschool children. Children's capacity and ratio requirements were observed to be in compliance. The LPAs took measurements and did the calculations to determine the total square footage offered by each of the temporary outdoor play areas. The LPAs\302\240found that there was a total of 7,262 square feet available for usage by children. When the square footage is divided by 75 square feet, there is adequate room for approximately 97 children. When they first opened, the cement area was included in the measurements. Before the facility can receive approval for the outside waiver, it must first wait for the fire department to provide its stamp of approval to the temporary outdoor play areas. In addition, barricades or safety gates are required to be constructed at the conclusion of each play area before the LPAs will approve an outdoor waiver. According to the director. PG&E will take approximately three to six months to replace the affected play area. A copy of this report, and the \342\200\234Notice of Site Visit,\342\200\235 were given to the director. A \342\200\234Notice of Site Visit\342\200\235 must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. An exit interview was conducted, and the report was reviewed with the Director, Rosie Morales
