What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Manager (LPM), Cindy Interiano and Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Leslit Tapia-Mandujano conducted a case management inspection and met with Site Supervisor, Anna Franceschi and other Staff. Purpose of the inspection was explained to Site Supervisor. No children were present during the inspection. First day of school is scheduled for April 8 th . Facility has requested a change of rooms and a decrease in capacity from 96 Preschool children to 72 Preschool children (ages 2 to entry into first grade). Facility will now operate in CDC Building, Room #2 (aka #101), Room #3 (aka #102), and Room #4 (aka #103). Rooms #2 and #3 operate full day programs: Mon-Fri, 8a-4p; and Room #4 operate AM/PM sessions: Mon-Fri, 9a-12p and 1p-4p. Staff have criminal record clearance through the School District. Indoor and outdoor space was measured and inspected for Health and Safety hazards. Each classroom measures about 1039.83 square feet, allowing for 30 children. Outdoor play area is adjacent to the building and is securely fenced. Outdoor Playyard measures 6976.22 square feet, allowing for 93 children. See facility sketch and capacity worksheet. Each classroom is equipped with two restrooms: each with 1 toilet, and 2 sinks on the outer wall of the restroom; a total of 6 toilets and 6 sinks in the facility. There are separate Staff restrooms in the office area. Facility has no hot water. Napping equipment is stored in the classroom area. See Page 2... Page 3... During the inspection, LPM and LPA provided Technical Assistance for Covid-19 guidelines, including Social Distancing, proper use of PPE equipment, and cleaning / disinfecting / sanitizing of commonly used areas/items. Fire Clearance was granted on 03/02/2021 for 72 Preschool children. Classrooms and Outdoor area are ready for use. However, prior to issuing an updated license for 72 Preschool children, Facility must: 1) Install sensor alarms on the back doors of the classrooms that sound when doors open 2) All gates leading to the street and parking lot must be secured or barricaded 3) Water drainage hole in the emergency exit area must be covered 4) Air Conditioner units in the back must be barricaded, or soft-cushion all sharp corners, edges 5) Gate leading from emergency area to outdoor playarea should have additional cushioning to close the gaps 6) Facility must install additional shading >This report will be emailed to facility. Classrooms have sufficient toys, cubbies, and equipment for the children. Each classroom is equipped with a working telephone, an industrial fire alarm, a carbon monoxide detector, and a fire extinguisher. Each room has a fully supplied Emergency kit backpack. Area for an ill child will be in the Multi-purpose room (on the main elementary school campus) with an accessible children\342\200\231s restroom, and will be supervised by a School staff pending pick-up by an authorized guardian. Children\342\200\231s medication will be kept in an inaccessible cabinet in the classroom. Food is prepared by the Child Care Food Program and delivered daily to the classroom. Meals are individually packed for each child. All mandatory postings are posted in the classroom, including menus. Drinking water is readily available for children indoors and outdoors. Outdoor play area appears clean, safe, and free of hazardous items and materials. Play area is equipped with sufficient toys and equipment for children. Area around and under play structure is cushioned with a soft spongy-type material that absorbs falls. >Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department.
