What the inspector wrote

On May 17, 2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Maria Olguin-Leon conducted an unannounced annual inspection in conjunction with delivering the complaint findings at Trinity Presbyterian Preschool. LPA met with Director Jenny Waddell and purpose of visit was explained. Facility operates a preschool program at the Trinity Presbyterian Church in two buildings (Trinity House & Church Classroom). Present for today\342\200\231s visit was Director, Program Manager, 6 staff, 6 volunteer parents and 45 preschool children. Teacher and children capacity ratio requirements were observed to be in compliance. Preschool Program operates Monday -Friday from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM. LPA and Director toured the facility for health and safety hazards. Classrooms are clean with proper ventilation. There are plenty of age-appropriate toys, furniture and learning materials all in good repair. There is restrooms in each classroom with working toilet and sinks for hand washing with no running hot water. There is a separate bathroom for staff usage near the classrooms. There is a large outdoor age-appropriate play structure behind Trinity house classroom with plenty of play activities, shade and cushioned with sand and tanbark. Trinity house has a front yard with grass area and patio equipped with play/learning activities. There is a separate outdoor patio play area located behind Church classroom with sand area and age-appropriate activities. All outdoor areas are completely enclosed with a 5 ft. fence and concrete wall. There are no pools, spas, or other similar bodies of water on the premises. Per Director, there are no firearms or weapons on site. Children bring their own meals from home. Classrooms are equipped with a sink and refrigerator. Children have their own labeled water bottles to use inside or outside. All cleaning supplies and toxins are properly stored in kitchen area and locked in cabinets and inaccessible to children. Classroom has sufficient sleeping mats for all children, facility provides sheets that are washed weekly by staff. Cont. on page 2... Page 2... LPA reviewed 5 children\342\200\231s records and 5 staff records. All children's and staff records were complete with all required documents. Facility has posted the required forms (i.e., License, Notification of Parent's Rights, Notification of Personal Rights, Car Seat Law (updated), and Emergency Disaster Plan). Last emergency drill was conducted on 04/07/2023 and is properly documented. Water lead testing has been completed and submitted to regional office. Incidental Medical Services were discussed with Director. LPA observed medication is properly stored with original prescription in kitchen area. There are several first aid kits available in the classroom with plenty of medical supplies. Isolation area for sick children is in office. LPA reminded Director that all storage containers for solid waste must have a tight-fitting lid. Classroom has a complete record of sign-in/out sheets with full signatures of authorized drop off/ pickup person. Classrooms have a fully charged fire extinguisher and working carbon monoxide detector. Trinity house has a working smoke detector and Church classroom has a smoke detector that is maintained through the Church. Classroom is equipped with a telephone landline and cell phones are available on site. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the facility including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Director was informed that as of September 1, 2016, a person may not be employed or volunteer at a childcare facility unless he or she has been immunized against influenza, pertussis, and measles or qualifies for an exemption pursuant to Health and Safety code 1596.7995 and 1597.662. Cont page 3... Page 3.. As of January 1, 2018, all staff must complete Mandated Reporter Training every two years. The training can be obtained online at www.mandatedreporterca.com . LPA encouraged the Site Supervisor to frequently visit our website at www.ccld.ca.gov for licensing regulations and new updates.
