What the inspector wrote

On 1/7/2025, at approximately 10:45AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jonathan Tse conducted an unannounced annual visit at the facility. LPA met with Site Supervisor, Aleni Capaz (D1), and explained the purpose of the visit. Present during the visit was D1, 6 staff members, and 37 preschool-age children. The facility is operating within staffing and ratio requirements on this day. The facility\342\200\231s hours of operation are from 7:30AM to 6:00PM, Monday to Friday. LPA and D1 inspected the facility for any health or safety hazards. LPA observed there to be fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguishers present in the facility. There are operational carbon monoxide detectors present. There is a fire alarm system installed. Poisons, cleaning detergents, and other chemicals are stored inaccessible to children in care. There is a maintenance closet that is kept locked. Emergency exits are marked and visible. Outlets are covered or blocked by furniture when not in use. LPA observed there to be age-appropriate toys and learning materials present. Furniture is age-appropriate and free of rough or sharp edges. Children use cubbies for storage. Cubbies are labeled with each child\342\200\231s name. The facility provides cots for children to nap on. Cots are labeled. Bedding is brought from home and cleaned once a week or as needed. LPA observed that children\342\200\231s bedding is stored individually. Lunch is brought from home and the facility provides morning and afternoon snacks. Food allergies are posted and accessible for review in the kitchen. Storage of medication was reviewed. Medication is stored centrally in the facility\342\200\231s office. Medication is stored appropriately with physician\342\200\231s instructions. Continued on Page Two Page Two The facility has a waiver that allows for the use of an adjacent public playground for outdoor play. The facility shares use of the playground with facility #414004145, and as condition of the waiver, shall not comingle children during outside play. LPA observed the facility to be in compliance with the waiver during the visit. The play structure present was observed to be cushioned with resilient padding (tanbark) and is rated for children ages 2 to 5 years old. The outdoor play area is enclosed by a fence that is at least four feet high. There are age-appropriate toys and equipment present. There are no swimming pools or other similar bodies of water present in the facility. There are no firearms stored in the facility. LPA reviewed 5 staff files, 5 children\342\200\231s files, and facility records. There is at least one staff member present with current Pediatric First Aid/CPR training present during today\342\200\231s visit. All staff files reviewed have current Mandated Reporter training available for review. Staff qualifications and immunization records are available for review. All children\342\200\231s files were observed to be complete. Children are signed in and out of the facility with paper sign-in/out sheets. LPA verified that all children present during today\342\200\231s visit were signed in. A facility roster is available for review. The facility last conducted an emergency drill in December 2025. LPA observed that drills are conducted monthly and documented. All required postings were observed to be posted and accessible for review in the main entrance of the facility. Facility representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1597.16. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP.). Continued on Page Three Page Three LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives (Interim Licensing Standards) outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP. LPA referred facility representative to the Department website for lead: Lead Toxicity Prevention and Water Testing Information ( https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/water-testing-information ). CCC completed testing and has no exceedances. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP.
