Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On May 27, 2026, at approximately 12:10 pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Maria Olguin-Leon conducted an unannounced Case Management visit. LPA met with Director Betty Castrejon and explained the purpose of the visit. Present in the facility today were Director and 7 staff supervising 60 preschool age children. Facility is in compliance with staff/child ratios. Facility operates a preschool and infant program. Preschool program operates in three classrooms: Discovery Preschool, Preschool, PreK with two preschool outdoor play areas. During annual inspection on February 5, 2026, LPA observed facility had previously been licensed for a school age program with an outdoor waiver for shared space. Facility no longer operates a school-age program. During annual visit LPA explained a measurement would be conducted to ensure if an outdoor shared waiver was still required. During today’s inspection, LPA inspected and measured both preschool outdoor areas; Playground #1 “Small yard” and Playground #2 “Big yard”. Per Director, playground #1 is only used for a maximum of 24 preschool children. LPA observed a climbing structure in playground #2 with padding underneath to absorb and cushion falls. Playground #1 measured 4009.07 sq ft. and Playground #2 measured 6404.05. The two preschool outdoor areas measured for a total of 10,1413.12 sq ft allowing enough outdoor space for the preschool capacity of 72 preschool age children. Facility no longer needs an outdoor rotational waiver. Facility acknowledges the maximum number of children in each outdoor area and agrees to not exceed that number. LPA will send an updated license and facility shall replace the current license that is posted for preschool. No deficiencies were cited today under CCR, Title 22, Div. 12, Chapt. 1. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Director, Betty Castrejon.
