What the inspector wrote

On June 4th, 2025, at approximately 11am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tapia-Mandujano conducted an unannounced random/annual inspection and met with licensee, Stephanie Ward. LPA explained the purpose of the inspection to licensee. Present in the facility are licensee and assistant supervising 8 children (1 infant and 7 preschoolers). During today's inspection, all adults living and/or working in the facility are fingerprint cleared and associated. LPA verified Guardian list with licensee. Licensee owns single story house and lives in the home with daughter. The hours of operation are: M-F, 7:00 AM \342\200\223 5:30 PM. Daycare areas : Living Room, Dining Room, Bathroom, Backyard, Bedroom 3 (Infants Napping), and Kitchen (Pass through only). Off Limit areas : Bedrooms 1 & 2, Bathroom 2, Family Room (Pass through only), Storage rooms, and Garage. LPA observed that off limit areas were properly barricaded and made inaccessible to the children in care. LPA and Licensee inspected the entire child care area for Health and Safety hazards. LPA observed the Day-care is clean, orderly with a variety of age-appropriate toys for the children. All furniture inspected is in good repair. The licensee has a fully stocked First Aid kit and was reminded to be aware of the expiration on the First Aid Kit. Home does not have any pools or bodies of water. Per licensee, there are no pets in the home. LPA reminded licensee about water safety. The home does have a fireplace that is properly barricaded. The home has age-appropriate equipment available for children in care. Licensee was reminded that baby walkers, bouncers, jumpers, and any other similar items are to not be used for children in care. Per licensee, infant children sleep in pack and plays in the bedroom. Continued on Page 2... Page 2 Continued... There was a fully charged fire extinguisher and a smoke and carbon monoxide alarm, and a working telephone. Phone number listed for Licensee is current. Per Licensee, there are no weapons or firearms in the home. LPA reviewed eight children\342\200\231s records. Licensee does not have Mandated reporter training. Licensee and assistant will complete mandate reporter training. There is at least one person who has Pediatric CPR/First Aid Certification that expires 06/2025. There has not been an emergency drill that has been conducted in the last six months. Emergency drills must be conducted at least once every six months and must be properly logged. LPA observed that all the required posting documentation, such as the facility license, Notification of Parental Rights were posted in a prominent area for parents or representatives to review. Discipline Policy was also discussed. To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey may be sent to the email address provided. For additional information regarding the inspection and its tools and methods, please visit the Program website at www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/community-care-licensing/inspection-process Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Continued on Page 3... Page 3 Continued... Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. Licensee does not offer IMS at this moment. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. During the exit interview, the licensee, Stephanie Ward, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS on 6/04/2025. Deficiencies were cited today under CCR, Title 22, Div. 12, Chapt. 1. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed with Licensee, Stephanie Ward and copy of this report was provided.
