What the inspector wrote

On August 6, 2024, at approximately 1:10pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Maria Olguin-Leon, conducted a case management inspection at Peninsula Jewish Community Center Preschool. LPA met with Director, Nicole Francis and explained the purpose of the inspection. Facility is currently on summer break and not in session. Facility is a licensed combination program for infant, preschool and after school. Facility has submitted an application for increase in an infant capacity to department. For the increase infant capacity program, one of the prior licensed preschool classrooms, classroom #3 will be utilized. Hence, the preschool capacity will decrease. Program requested to decrease capacity from 243 preschool children to 231 preschool children. Classroom #3, previously a preschool classroom, was measured today for the infant capacity. Classroom #3 was measured for 688.5 sq ft. sq ft. The total allowable capacity measured for Classroom #3 that will be deducted from preschool capacity measures for 688.5 sq ft. sq ft. equaling 19 children. Application originally requested decrease of 12 children, however LPA measured for 19 children. LPA reminded Director final capacity approval will be based on fire inspection clearance/approval. Classrooms #4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 will remain as the preschool program. Preschool program capacity will decrease from 243 preschool children to 224 preschool children, if approved by fire inspection. Director is aware that infant children and preschool children are not to commingle. Page 2... Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA will approve the preschool decrease capacity from 243 to 224 preschool children, pending fire inspection clearance. A copy of this report, and the \342\200\234Notice of Site Visit\342\200\235 were given to the director. A \342\200\234Notice of Site Visit\342\200\235 must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. An exit interview was conducted, and the report was reviewed with the Director, Nicole Francis .
