What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Andrea Medlin met with facility representative for this required annual licensing visit. Purpose of the visit explained. There are 15 preschool aged children present during the visit. Facility meets teacher/child ratio today. Days and hours of operation: Monday-Friday 7:30AM-4:00PM. Facility is licensed as a combination center which includes: infant center and preschool. Facility operates at the Moonridge Community Housing Development Center. There are fully charged fire extinguishers that meet minimum requirements, smoke detectors, and carbon monoxide (CO) detector in the facility. All children's toilets and sinks are in safe and sanitary operating conditions. A sick child will be isolated from the group and wait for parent to pick up. Center is adequately furnished with a variety of age appropriate toys, furniture, and equipment. Bedding mats are available for napping and are stored appropriately; parents/guaridans provide napping blankets and wash once a week. Outdoor play area is directly adjacent to classrooms and is securely fenced. Playground equipment is in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. Outdoor activity space surface is maintained in a safe condition and free of hazards. No pools, spas, hot tubs, fish ponds or similar bodies of water are present. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons, and toxics are inaccessible to children. Per staff, there are no firearms or weapons on site. Classrooms are set up for child care and furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. Facility provides all snacks and meals and menu is posted; food is delivered by a vendor. First Aid supplies are available. Facility has posted all the required licensing forms. LPA reviewed staff and children's files. In the files reviewed, all are complete. Staff all have current Pediatric First Aid and CPR and verification of the mandated child abuse reporter training as compliant with AB1207. (Continued on next page 809-C) Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy discussed. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Facility informed that effective September 1, 2016, a person may not be employed or volunteer at a child care facility unless he or she has been immunized against influenza, pertussis, and measles or qualifies for an exemption pursuant to Health and Safety code 1596.7995 and 1597.662.
