What the inspector wrote

On January 22, 2026, at approximately 2:00 pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Maria Olguin-Leon conducted an announced Case Management visit to follow up on an unusual incident report that was received in Regional Office on January 7, 2026. LPA met with Site Supervisor Eneida Manriquez and explained the purpose of the visit. Facility operates a preschool program in two portable classrooms (CDC1 & CDC2) on the campus of Adelante Selby Lane Elementary School. Present in the facility today were Site Supervisor and 3 staff supervising 15 preschool age children. Criminal Background clearances for staff are conducted through Redwood City School District. Facility is currently operating within teacher to child ratio on this date . The facility self-reported an incident that occurred on January 6, 2026. Per report, the bathroom in CDC1 sustained fire damage due to a light fixture/exhaust fan catching fire in bathroom. Classroom CDC1 has been closed due to smoke damage, required cleaning and undergoing repairs LPA and Site Supervisor inspected CDC1 for health and safety hazards. LPA observed repairs to bathroom in CDC1 to be completed. During LPA\342\200\231s visit, staff were in process or setting up classroom with furniture, toys and other equipment. LPA observed flooring to be cleaned and polished with no damage. LPA observed classroom to have proper ventilation and lighting. Classroom has a fully charged fire extinguisher, working carbon monoxide detector and fire alarm is integrated into the classroom sprinkler system. Per Director, Director of Facilities for RCSD spoke with Fire Department and facility was informed that a fire inspection was not required to reopen the classroom. Based on LPA\342\200\231s observations, facility can operate once classroom set up has been completed. Facility will email LPA photos of classroom CDC1. No deficiencies were cited today under CCR, Title 22, Div. 12, Chapt. 1. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Site Supervisor, Eneida Manriquez.
