What the inspector wrote

On July 21, 2023, at 12:20PM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Maria Olguin-Leon met with Director Briana Huss for a required annual inspection. Purpose of inspection was explained. Present today, Director. Preschool program was closed for summer break. Facility operates part time preschool program from Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM. During the regular school year (August \342\200\223 June). LPA and Director toured the facility for health and safety hazards. Facility operates a preschool program in Room #B on the Henry Ford Elementary School site. Facility is clean with proper temperature and ventilation. There are plenty of age-appropriate toys, furniture, indoor dramatic play area and learning materials all in good repair. Storage Cubbies are available for children to store personal items and belongings. Facility has two children\342\200\231s restroom located in classroom (only one is used for preschool) equipped with two working toilets and sinks with no running hot water. Restroom door remains open and is equipped with a curtain for privacy. There is a separate bathroom in facility for staff use. LPA reminded Director to secure corners of rugs, to avoid tripping hazard. All trash containers in bathroom and in classroom have tight fitted lids. All cleaning products, chemicals and toxins are stored and locked in cabinet and inaccessible to children. Playground areas is next to building and is surrounded with a 3 ft. fence. There are plenty of age-appropriate toys and play equipment, all in good condition. Playground flooring is asphalt. There are no pools or bodies of water. Per Director, there are no weapons or firearms on the premises. Facility provides AM snack for children. Labeled water bottles with children\342\200\231s names are used indoors and outdoors. Facility refills water with filtered water. First aid kit is fully stocked with medical supplies. Incidental Medical Services were discussed. Sick children are isolated in office away from other children. Facility is equipped with fully charged fire extinguisher, carbon monoxide detector (located in kitchen in room #A) and smoke detector. Facility is equipped with a landline phone, cell phone and staff use walkie talkies for communication. Cont. Page 2... Page 2... No staff or children\342\200\231s records were reviewed today. The facility has all necessary paperwork posted, Facility License, Notification of Parent's Rights, Notification of Personal Rights, Car Seat Law, and Emergency Disaster Plan. Car seat law. Last emergency drill was conducted on June 6, 2023. Per Director, lead testing has been completed and submitted to regional office. Report was emailed to LPA in May. . Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP . When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP). LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP . Cont. page 3... Page 3... Director is aware that all staff is required to complete Mandated Reporter Training every two years. The training can be obtained online at www.mandatedreporterca.com . LPA encourages the director to frequently visit our website at www.ccld.ca.gov for licensing regulations and new updates. Director was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.
