What the inspector wrote

On January 28, 2025, at approximately 9:00AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPAs) Alvarado and Quimbo conducted an unannounced case management visit at the facility. LPA met with Facility Director, Jaqueline Galdamez and explained the purpose of the visit. Facility is a Combination License with an Infant License (414002750) and the Preschool License (414002749). Present during todays visit in the Infants side are 4 staff members supervising 10 infant children. In the preschool side, present are 6 staff members supervising 47 Preschool age children (5 toddlers). The facility is operating within capacity and ratio requirements on this day. All adults presents are fingerprinted, cleared and associated to the facility. Facility submitted an application for an increase in capacity on October 24, 2024. Facility requested to add classroom #6, \342\200\234TK classroom\342\200\235 (located on the second floor), and is requesting for a Total New Capacity of 78 preschool children. Fire clearance was obtained by the facility on October 30,2024. LPAs inspected the facility for health or safety hazards. LPAs observed there to be a fully charged 2A10:BC fire extinguisher present. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector and Fire alarm detector present. During today\342\200\231s visit LPAs Alvarado and Quimbo, inspected and measured classroom to be added, classroom #6 \342\200\234TK\342\200\235 on the second floor. In addition, LPAs measured outdoor area and gym area to verify measured capacity. At approximately 10:15am, executive director, Ana Galdamez, arrived to facility. Continued on Page 2... Page 2 Continued... LPAs measured classroom #6, \342\200\234TK classroom\342\200\235, for 832.18 sq. ft. allowing 23 preschool children. Classroom #6 was observed to be clean, equipped with age-appropriate toys and materials. There is a rug in the room that is free of stains. Classroom has appropriate ventilation. There is a sink in the classroom that was observed to be in working condition. Classroom is equipped with a working carbon monoxide detector, smoke detector and first aid kit. LPAs observed poisons, cleaning solutions inaccessible in classroom\342\200\231s high shelves. Outdoor area is separated into two separate areas: preschool area and toddler area. Preschool area was measured for 2,549.76 sq. ft. allowing for a capacity of 33 preschool children. Toddler area was measured for 396.3 sq. ft. allowing for a capacity of children. Outdoor area is fully enclosed and fenced. Outdoor area is located across the facility on Magnolia Street. Ratios and walking to outdoor area was discussed with director. There is a play structure in the outdoor area with resilient padding underneath. Per directors, outdoor area will be updated with new outdoor equipment, furnishings and updating fencing. LPAs reminded director outdoor area is to be off limits until LPAs have inspected and approved the updated outdoor area. Gym area is located next to boys and girls restroom in facility. LPAs measured gym area with two separate measurements, due to storage in gym. Per directors, storage will be removed as of this date. With storage, LPAs measured gym area for 1,635.3 sq. ft. allowing for 21 children. With storage removed, LPAs measured gym area for 2,063 sq. ft. allowing for 27 children. LPAs observed gym to be a large space with sufficient toys and equipment. LPAs observed tricycles and play structures with resilient padding underneath. LPAs informed director and executive director that measurements for outdoor area and gym area are preliminary measurements and may change due to the updating of both areas. LPAs will conduct a follow up visit to verify measurements and capacity for areas. Continued on Page 3... Page 3 Continued... Building Kidz program has access to both a girls and boys restroom. In the girl\342\200\231s restroom, there are 5 toilets and 3 sinks. In the boy\342\200\231s restroom, there are 3 toilets and 3 sinks. There are additional sinks in each classroom (11 accessible sinks in facility). Total allowable capacity for toilets is 120 children. Total allowable capacity for sinks is 165 children. During today\342\200\231s visit, LPAs discussed following with directors: -Updated waivers to be provided for outdoor area and gym area. -Lead testing exceedance of sink in classroom #5. -All children enrolled and present in classroom #6 (second floor), \342\200\234TK classroom\342\200\235, will be apart of and counted towards Building Kidz\342\200\231 total licensed capacity. -All children enrolled and present in classroom #6 (second floor), \342\200\234TK classroom\342\200\235, will be removed from California Department of Education. -All children enrolled and present in classroom #6 (second floor), \342\200\234TK classroom\342\200\235, will be under Title 22 regulations. -Children\342\200\231s chapel usage is limited to the stage only for music and dance lessons. -Updated fire clearance that specifies the age range for classroom #6 (second floor). LPAs also hand delivered appeal response to directors. LPAs will approve for a capacity of 77 preschool children and will approve of classroom #6, "TK classroom" when following is completed: \302\267 Removing of storage in gym area. \302\267 Installation of carbon monoxide detector in gym area. \302\267 Installation of smoke detector in gym area. \302\267 Installation of sound alarm on exit door in gym area. \302\267 Age-appropriate materials in gym area. Page 4 Continued... \302\267 Garbage bin with tight fitting lid in \342\200\234TK\342\200\235 classroom. \302\267 Safety covers on all electrical outlets in \342\200\234TK\342\200\235 classroom. \302\267 Inaccessibility of exposed screw/nail on wall (fire extinguisher on wall) in \342\200\234TK\342\200\235 classroom. \302\267 Window stopper and/or inaccessibility to windows in \342\200\234TK\342\200\235 classroom. \302\267 Lead exceedance remediation for sink in classroom #5. \302\267 Updated documentation for capacity increase application. \302\267 Updated fire clearance that specifies the age range for \342\200\234TK\342\200\235 classroom. \302\267 Paid Annual Fees LPAs will conduct a follow-up visit. No deficiencies were cited during today's visit on 1/28/2025. A notice of site visit was provided and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Facility Director, Jaqueline Galdamez
