What the inspector wrote
On July 11, 2024, at approximately 1:45 pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Maria Olguin-Leon conducted an unannounced annual inspection and met with licensee Aurora Cortes, and purpose of inspection was explained. Present during today\342\200\231s visit was Licensee, Licensee\342\200\231s spouse, and 5 children (4 infants & 1 preschool age). Facility is operating within capacity and ratio requirements on this day. All adults present have criminal background clearance. Childcare hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 7:30am to 5:30pm.
LPA and Licensee toured the home for health and safety hazards. Home is a single-level story home.
Day Care Areas:
Living room/Playroom, Bedrooms #1 & #2 (both for napping purposes only), bathroom #1, hallway (walk through to backyard) and backyard on left side of home.
Off limits area:
are kitchen, bathroom #2, bedrooms #3 & #4, storage/in-law unit (located in backyard) and backyard behind home.
Isolation area
for ill children will be in hallway and away from other children. LPA observed home to be clean and orderly. Home is well light and has proper ventilation. LPA observed electrical outlets are secured with child proof covers. Kitchen area entrances and hallway are secured with child proof gates for inaccessibility to children in care. Hallway is equipped with a changing table. Fireplace is barricaded with furniture. LPA observed a refrigerator stored in bedroom #2. Cleaning supplies and other potentially harmful items are stored inaccessible to children. There are plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, child size furnishings, learning material, and playpens. Living room flooring is equipped with rugs and foam mats to cushion falls. Backyard is accessible through the hallway to back door and ramps leading into left side of backyard. Backyard is equipped with grass in far back left side of yard, there is a brick walkway and cement area is equipped with rubber mats to cushion falls. Backyard has age-appropriate toys which include a playhouse, ride on toys, and children\342\200\231s furniture all in good condition. Backyard is surrounded with a 5 ft. fence and off-limits areas are barricaded with child proof gates. LPA did not observe any spas, pools, or other bodies of water.

Home is equipped with a working carbon monoxide detector and working smoke detector. A fully charged fire extinguisher is located on kitchen counter. LPA reviewed first aid kit and kit is fully stocked. Licensee has a landline and uses a cell on the premises. Per licensee, there are no weapons or firearms in the home. Licensee provides sheets for playpens and washing weekly or as needed.
LPA reviewed 5 children\342\200\231s files and 1 staff file. All files were complete with all required documents. Licensee carries liability insurance via DCI Insurance which is effective through 03/27/2025. Licensee maintains an updated Children\342\200\231s roster. Licensee CPR/First Aid is current and expires 04/2026. Licensee Mandated Reporter training expires 05/2026. Licensee provides meal to children in care, which includes two snack,breakfast and lunch. LPA observed Childcare License, Emergency Disaster Plan (LIC610A) and Parent's rights posted. Last emergency drill was conducted on July10, 2024, and is properly documented and conducted monthly.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

The Licensee was reminded about the Provider Information Notices (PINs) on the CCLD website. Licensee was informed that as of September 1, 2016, a person may not be employed or volunteer at a childcare facility unless he or she has been immunized against influenza, pertussis, and measles or qualifies for an exemption pursuant to Health and Safety code 1596.7995 and 1597.662. LPA's reviewed AB 1207 with the Licensee.
As of January 1, 2018, all staff must complete Mandated Reporter Training every two years. LPA reminded licensee about Mandated Reporter training available

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at

as an additional resource. LPAs also informed licensees of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at

and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.

During the exit interview, the LICENSEE, Aurora Cortes confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.
No deficiencies were issued today under Title 22 Division 12 of the California Code of Regulations.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
