What the inspector wrote

On 1/29/2025, at approximately 9:00AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Alvarado conducted an unannounced annual visit at the facility. LPA knocked and entered through the front office of the facility and meet with Facility Director Candise Daquisto(D1). Present in the Facility is (D1) and three staff members supervising a total of 23 children (Preschool age) This facility represents the Coast Side Kids, Inc. The facility is operating within staffing and ratio requirements on this day. All staff present are fingerprinted, Cleared, and associated to the facility. LPA was guided by (D1) at approximately 9:25am to inspect the facility for any health or safety hazards. The Facility is one building that has three classrooms, A children\342\200\231s bathroom was observed by the Office area of the facility, with 3/4 children\342\200\231s toilets to be functioning, one of the toilets is currently in the process of getting replaced. Childrens bathroom has 4 functioning sinks. Facility also has a fenced outdoor play area. No Pools, hot tubs, spas, or similar bodies of water present in the facility. Facility is located less than 1 mile away from the Pacific Ocean, Facility faces right across the Pacific Ocean. . At approximately 9:35 (D1) guided LPA Alvarado outdoors to inspect the Play Area. Outdoor play area consists of a upper and lower play area. LPA observed the outdoor play areas to be free of debris and other loose articles. There are age-appropriate toys and equipment present. Outdoor area has loose gravel in the play areas. Parts of the play structures have cushioned landing areas. Each outdoor play area is enclosed by a fence that is at least four feet high. At approximately 9:48am (D1) guided LPA to Classroom 1 \342\200\234Pooh Bear Class\342\200\235, classroom is for the 3- and 4-year-olds. 13 preschool age children were present with two staff members. LPA observed age-appropriate toys and learning materials. Furniture is age-appropriate and free of rough or sharp edges. At 9:50 LPA observed while children were having their snack a bottle of disinfecting wipes. (D1) removed it immediately and made it inaccessible. Continued on Page 2... Page 2 Continued... At 9:53 (D1) guided LPA to Classroom 2 \342\200\234K Class\342\200\235 which is not currently being used per (D1). (D1) stated it only gets used on certain occasions such as rainy days. At approximately 10:00am (D1) guided LPA to classroom 3 \342\200\234Tigger Class\342\200\235 were LPA observed also in both classrooms age-appropriate toys and learning materials. Furniture is age-appropriate and free of rough or sharp edges. Each classroom has a door/Exit, that is locked from the outside were parents also drop off at each classroom directly. Facility Building is equipped with two fully charged fire extinguishers. Fire alarm systems and Carbon Monoxide Detectors are running throughout the facility. Facility has a Fully equipped First Aid Kit. Electrical outlets are childproof and inaccessible. Poisons, cleaning detergents, and other chemicals are stored inaccessible to children in care. The facility tested its fixtures for lead on 12/23/2022 before the written directive deadline of 1/1/2023. Per (D1) parents and families provide snack and lunch for children. Facility provides matts for children to nap on. parents and families provided sheets and blankets for nap, and they are sent home on Fridays to be washed. Facility uses physical paper and logs to ensure that parents sign in and out. At approximately 11:15am LPA Alvarado reviewed 4 staff files, 6 children\342\200\231s files, and facility records. All children files were observed to be complete. All staff members present have current Pediatric First Aid/CPR training that Expires 8/2025. Staff have current Mandated Reporter Training certificates available for review expiring 8/2026. Staff have qualifications and immunization records available for review. It was observed that one staff member was missing immunization on a file. Fire drills are conducted once every 6 months and properly logged, Last Emergency Drill conducted on 1/10/2025. All required postings were observed to be posted and accessible for review upon entry to the facility. Facility representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP). Facility representative was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. LPA Alvarado received from (D1) an updated Lease Agreement for the Facility. No deficiencies are being cited today deficiencies cited under the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Licensee was reminded that a Notice of Site visit (LIC 9213) must be posted for 30 consecutive days during the hours of operation after each site visit by a licensing representative Failure to maintain posting as required will result in a civil penalty of $100.00. During the exit interview, Licensee, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Facility Director, Candise Daquisto.
