What the inspector wrote

On July 17, 2025 @ approx.1:45 pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Maria Olguin-Leon met with Licensee Olga Lopez to conduct an unannounced annual random inspection. The purpose of the inspection was explained to licensee. Present in home today was licensee, assistant,, and 8 children (1 infant, 6 preschoolers,1 school-age). All adults living and working in the home have criminal background clearances and associated to facility. Licensee is operating within capacity and ratio requirements on this day. Hours of operation are Monday\342\200\223 Friday 7:30am \342\200\223 5:30pm. LPA inspected the indoors and outdoors of home for health and safety hazards. Home is a two-story duplex with 3 bedrooms and 1 \302\275 bath home. The DAY CARE AREAS ARE: Living room, kitchen/dining room, downstairs bathroom, and backyard. The OFF-LIMIT AREAS : Entire second floor. The ISOLATION AREA : is in the dining room/kitchen area and away from other children. LPA observed the home to be clean, organized with proper lighting and ventilation. LPA observed a child proof gate installed at the kitchen entrance and at bottom of staircase. LPA observed electrical outlets secured with childproof covers and barricaded with furniture. Kitchen and bathroom cabinets are secured with childproof latches. LPA observed age-appropriate toys, books, child size furniture, sleeping mats and playpens, all in good condition. Cleaning supplies and other potentially harmful items are stored inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed the entire backyard enclosed with a 5 ft. wood fence. LPA observed slide/climbing play structures, child size furniture, ride on toys and other age-appropriate toys, all in good condition. Outdoor flooring is artificial grass to absorb and cushion falls. LPA observed a guinea pig in a cage in outdoor area. LPA observed a canopy in backyard to provide shade to children in care. There are no pools, spas or other bodies of water. Cont. page 2\342\200\246 Page 2... Home is equipped with a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector, due to sleeping children LPA did not test detectors LPA reminded Licensee to test detectors. LPA observed a fully charged fire extinguisher (2A10BC) in the kitchen, which is easily accessible. Licensee maintains a fully stocked first aid kit. Licensee maintains a cell phone in the home. Per licensee, there are no weapons or firearms in the home. LPA reviewed 6 children\342\200\231s files and 1 staff file. Licensee maintains a current children\342\200\231s roster. Licensee CPR/FA expires 02/2027 and Mandated Reporter training expires 05/2027. Licensee provides meals to children in care, which includes breakfast, lunch and two snacks. LPA reminded Licensee to label children\342\200\231s food brought from home. LPA observed Childcare License, Parent's rights and emergency disaster plan posted in home. The last emergency disaster drill was conducted on June 26, 2025, and properly documented. Emergency drills are conducted monthly. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was reminded about the Provider Information Notices (PINs) on the CCLD website. Licensee was informed that as of September 1, 2016, a person may not be employed or volunteer at a childcare facility unless he or she has been immunized against influenza, pertussis, and measles or qualifies for an exemption pursuant to Health and Safety code 1596.7995 and 1597.662. LPA reviewed AB 1207 with the Licensee. Cont. page 3... Page 3... As of January 1, 2018, all staff must complete Mandated Reporter Training every two years. LPA reminded licensee about Mandated Reporter training available www.mandatedreporterca.com . LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.v/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey may be sent to the email address provided. Please complete the survey and share your inspection experience. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. During the exit interview, licensee Olga Lopez confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. No deficiencies issued today during LPA's visit, under CCR, Title 22, Division 12. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with licensee, Olga Lopez. LPA translated report in Spanish.
