What the inspector wrote

On November 8, 2024, at approximately 1:20pm, L icensing Program Analyst (LPA) Melissa Zaragoza conducted an unannounced, case management visit. LPA met with the licensee Karen P. Fretes and explained the purpose of the visit. Present during LPA's visit included the licensee, 1 staff assistant, and 3 children (2 infant and 1 preschool age). Licensees requested for a room addition to their childcare license. The licensee submitted an application for an update to their license, to department on November 1, 2024. Licensee, lives in the home with their adult son and mother. All adults living and working in the home have fingerprint clearance on file. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:30pm The DAY CARE AREAS now approved are the living room, dining room, bathroom, deck, and front yard. The OFF LIMIT AREAS are the kitchen, bedroom #1, bedroom# 2, and the garage. Off limit areas are made inaccessible with child safety door handles and/or a child safety gate. Home is equipped with a fully charged fire extinguisher, first aid kit and a dual smoke and carbon monoxide detector. LPA observed a dual smoke and carbon monoxide detector in the dining room. LPA observed the front yard of the home for any health and safety hazards. Front yard has a wooden fence enclosing the yard. Front yard fence has an entrance door attached to the gate. Per licensee, fenced door was created to automatically close on its own, if its left open. Gate door has two locks installed for protection. LPA observed the front yard to have many toys and material that were age appropriate for the children in care. LPA observed toys to be well kept and in proper working condition. Licensee installed cover corners for protection in the cement stairs in the front yard. LPA did not observe any pools, spas, or bodies of water in the front yard. (Continue Report on Page 2...) (Continued, Page 2...) LPA will approve the room addition of the front yard to the childcare license, as of today\342\200\231s date, 11/08/2024. No deficiencies were issued during today's visit. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee, Karen P. Fretes.
