What the inspector wrote

On March 15, 2023, at 11:40 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Maria Olguin-Leon met with licensee, Satoe Kaneko for unannounced annual inspection. Purpose of visit was explained. Present for today\342\200\231s visit was Licensee, 1 infant, 3 preschoolers, 1 school-age. Facility is in compliance with capacity/ratios today. Hours of operation are Monday \342\200\223 Friday 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. LPA and Licensee toured the home for health and safety hazards. Daycare area are: Combo Family room/Living room, Kitchen, hallway bathroom and backyard. Off limits area are all bedrooms and garage. Backyard is fenced with five ft. fence and flooring consist of concrete patio and grass area. Home is clean with proper ventilation. There are plenty of age-appropriate toys, child-size furniture and learning materials all in good repair. There are no pools or bodies of water. Per licensee there are no weapons in the home. Fireplace in living room is properly barricaded with a desk. All cleaning supplies and toxins are properly stored in locked cabinet and closet in kitchen area. The home is equipped with a fully charged fire extinguisher (located in garage), working carbon monoxide detector and two smoke detectors. Licensee was reminded to conduct and document emergency drill every 6 months. CPR/First Aid is current until 07/24/2024. Technical Violation was issued for Mandated Reporter. Licensee will complete and email copy to LPA. First Aid kit is available and isolation area for sick children will be in on sofa in main daycare room. LPA reviewed 4 children\342\200\231s records (two were electronically). LPA reminded Licensee to keep file folder for each child for easy access. All the children's records were complete. The home has all necessary paperwork posted. Licensee was given a copy of LIC126. Licensee provides breakfast, lunch, and snacks or children will occasionally bring own lunch and is stored on kitchen counter. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee Satoe Kaneko and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. Page 2... Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Licensee was reminded that as of September 1, 2016, a person may not be employed or volunteer at a childcare facility, unless he or she has been immunized for influenza, pertussis and measles or qualifies for an exemption pursuant to Health and Safety Code 1596.7995 and 1597.662. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual \342\200\223 Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. When any IMS is provided a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was informed that as of September 1, 2016, a person may not be employed or volunteer at a childcare facility unless he or she has been immunized against influenza, pertussis, and measles or qualifies for an exemption pursuant to Health and Safety code 1596.7995 and 1597.662. LPA reviewed AB 1207 with the Licensee. As of January 1, 2018, all staff must complete Mandated Reporter Training every two years. The training can be obtained online at www.mandatedreporterca.com . LPA encouraged the Licensee to frequently visit our website at www.ccld.ca.gov for licensing regulations and new updates. The Licensee can also email at childcareadvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov and ask to be added to the email list for the updates. Cont. page 3... Page 3...
