What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Manager (LPM), Cindy Interiano conducted a PreLicensing inspection and met with Applicant, Zhen Zhen Li, Site Director, Bernadette Clarisse Pioroda and two staff. Purpose of the inspection was explained to Applicant. Facility has requested a license capacity of 16 infants (ages 12-24 months). Facility operates in (Infant) Classroom #3. The facility will operate as a combination center with infants and preschool children, Monday - Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The facility was inspected indoor and outdoor today for health and safety hazards and measured to calculate capacity. Indoor: Infant classroom measures 561.4 square feet allowing for a total capacity of 16 infants. Classroom has sufficient toys, cubbies, and equipment for children. Room is equipped with an industrial fire alarm, a smoke and carbon monoxide detector, and a fire extinguisher. Room has an accessible, functioning telephone. Changing table is within arms\342\200\231 reach of a sink. A restroom with 3 toilets and 2 sinks (in Prek room #2) is accessible if needed. Staff restrooms are located near the hallway. Classroom has a fully supplied Emergency kit. Isolation area of ill children will be in the office and/or lobby area and a staff bathroom will be used, if needed, until Guardian arrives for pick up. Children\342\200\231s medication will be kept in the main office or kitchen area. Drinking water is readily available for children. All mandatory postings are posted in the classroom, including menus. Outdoor: The outdoor area measures 373 square feet allowing for a total capacity of 5 infants. Soft cushioning and age appropriate toys and equipment will be installed. Drinking water is available for children. Play area is enclosed by a fenced area and has shaded rest area for the children. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. The following information regarding ADA was provided: US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice)/ (800) 514-0383 (TTY) and link to publication: Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA, available at: http://www.ada.gov/childqanda.htm >Facility was informed that as of September 1, 2016, a person may not be employed or volunteer at a child care facility unless he or she has been immunized against influenza, pertussis, and measles or qualifies for an exemption pursuant to Health and Safety code 1596.7995 and 1597.662. >Applicant and Director were informed about the Provider Information Notices (PINs) on CCLD website. >Applicant and Director were advised of Mandated Reporter Training available on CCLD website. Training must be renewed by all staff every 2 years. >Applicant and Director were advised of the new Lead Bill (effective 01/01/19), requiring Facilities to distribute a two-page flyer to Guardians with information on lead poisoning facts, as well as additional requirements for Child Care Centers. Review PIN 21-21-CCP for additional information/instructions. >Covid-19 guidelines was discussed. >Applicant and Director was reminded at least 1 staff must have current CPR/First Aid. >Applicant and Director was reminded to conduct fire drills at least once every six months and properly log drill. >Applicant and Director were reminded of records to be maintained at the facility. Prior to approving license for a capacity of 16 Infants, 1) Fire Clearance must be received 2) Feeding chairs for younger infants should be supplied 3) Remove non-age appropriate toys and all small toys that may be swallowed 4) Install baby gate at main door of the classroom 5) Food-preparation area and Refrigerator shall not be located near Infant changing table 6) Postings to be re-posted on the outside of the classroom Outdoor play area 7) Each side gate must have a sensor alarm installed 8) Finish installing floor cushioning 9) Appropriate toys and equipment should be supplied 10) Cover electrical box (near window corner) 11) Cover water faucet/sprinkler (near exit door leading to parking lot) 12) Cover wide pipe (near exit door leading to El Camino Real) 13) Applicant will send photos of requested information 14) Updated forms will be requested 15) Outdoor play waiver will be pending review >Report will be emailed to Applicant at zhenzhen@lacademy.co by end of business day today, 08/02/2021.
