What the inspector wrote

On August 9th, 2023 at approximately 2:30pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tapia-Mandujano conducted a case management inspection. LPA met with director, Beatrice Balfour and explained the purpose of the inspection. Present in the facility are Director and staff prepping for the new year. There are no children present during today's inspection. First day of school will start on August 15th, 2023. Facility is currently licensed for 120 children in six classrooms that are divided between Building A and B. Facility has requested to decrease capacity to operate out of four classrooms and serve 80 preschool age children. Classroom that will be licensed will be Building A: A1, A22, A3, and Building B: B2. Facility will also have a Private Elementary Classroom that will be in B3. Classrooms A1, A2, A3, and B2 have been previously measured to be approximately about 782.823spft allowing to have the decrease capacity of 80 children. Preschool program capacity will decrease from 120 preschool children to 80 preschool children. Menlo Park Fire Department inspected and approved the decrease of capacity on August 1st, 2023. During today's inspection, LPA conducted a Health and Safety inspection. LPA received additional waivers that will be give to management for review. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Prior to official decrease of preschool capacity, following must be completed: -Doorbells on back doors in Building A must be fixed -Classrooms need to be fully set up including all outlets and safety measures -Waivers must be approved -Obtain proof of the Affidavit through Department of Education -Obtain updated LIC 500 and LIC 610 Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Director, Beatrice Balfour.
