What the inspector wrote

On 5/24/24 Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Garcia and Alvarado conducted an unannounced case management visit to the Family Childcare Home (FCCH) listed above. The licensee requested a visit from the department since she would like to upgrade her small FCCH to a large FCCH license. LPAs met with the Licensee, Tinglin Wu, and explained the purpose of the visit. Three infants, three preschool-aged, the licensee\342\200\231s daughter school age. The licensee\342\200\231s employee was also present. The licensee and the licensee\342\200\231s employee present at the FCCH received criminal record clearance from the department. The FCCH operates within its capacity and in accordance with the required ratio of staff to children. The home is a two-story, three-bedroom, one-bathroom home. Daycare Areas: Lower level: Living Room, Kitchen, and Backyard. Upper level: Bedroom #1 (Baby Bedroom), Bedroom #2 (Playing Room), and Bathroom. Off-limits Areas: Bedroom #3 and Garage. The Home has stairs that lead to the second floor, the bottom and top of the stairs. Licensee also does close off the kitchen area even though it is a daycare use area. New Child care areas will only be the Lower level of the house per Fire Clearance Conditions. Day Care Areas: lower level: Living Room, Kitchen, and Backyard Off-limit Area: All the Second Floor: Bedroom #1, Bedroom #2, and Bedroom #3. Bathroom is still pending. See Page Two Page Two LPAs and the licensee conducted an inspection to identify potential health and safety hazards. The indoor daycare areas were found to be clean, orderly, and equipped with age-appropriate toys, furniture, and educational materials. The Family Child Care Home (FCCH) demonstrated proper lighting, ventilation, and absence of hazards endangering children, along with essential safety equipment such as a fully stocked first aid kit, functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and a charged fire extinguisher. Measures were taken to ensure child safety, including covering garbage cans and power outlets and storing cleaning products out of reach or secured with child safety locks. Licensee confirmed that no firearms or weapons were present on the premises. The entire backyard was securely enclosed and furnished with playground equipment in good condition, featuring cushioned areas under high climbing equipment to absorb falls. No pools, spas, or other bodies of water were on the premises. Licensee was reminded of the capacity limits specified in the license, with a review of the limits for large and small family childcare homes. It was emphasized that when no assistant provider is present, the licensee must adhere to the capacity requirements for a Small Family Childcare Home, allowing for the care of up to eight children. The licensee was also reminded of their obligation to be physically present and ensure continuous supervision of all children in care. In the event of temporary absence, arrangements must be made for a substitute adult to supervise the children, with absences not exceeding 20% of the facility's operating hours per day. As of 5/24/24 the Large License will not be approved and will be pending till further clarification from Fire, it the bathroom area (Only bathroom) in the house can be approved for use for children.
