What the inspector wrote

On May 15, 2024 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Required - 3 year Inspection at the above-mentioned Child Care Center (CCC). LPA met with Director Michele Tappeiner and informed them the purpose of the inspection. LPA in the company of the Director toured the interior and exterior of the facility. At the time of the inspection there were 29 children present and 4 staff present. LPA observed the license to be posted prominently on behind the entrance door along with the Emergency Disaster Plan (LIC610). LPA observed the parents rights poster to be posted in a prominent area of the classroom. LPA observed the CCC to be clean and organized. The CCC has plenty of ventilation and space to accommodate children in care. LPA observed the indoor classroom to have plenty of equipment, toys, and furnishing for children in care. LPA observed the kitchen to be in an accessible area and observed that all lower drawers/cabinets were free of potential hazards. LPA observed the cleaning compounds to be stored on elevated surfaces beyond the reach of children in care. LPA observed the CCC to have sufficient toilets and sinks to accommodate children in care. LPA observed the outdoor area to be completely enclosed by a fence. LPA observed plenty of equipment and toys that are age appropriate. LPA observed 3 storage sheds, all of which contain children's equipment and is free of potential hazards. LPA observed the footing under the play structures to be made of pea gravel. LPA reminded Director to ensure that there is sufficient cushioning in the fall zones. LPA observed a menu to be posted at the entrance of the CCC. LPA notes that the facility only provides 1 snack and lunch is provided by the parents. Director informed LPA that the last time them conducted an emergency drill was about a month ago, however was unaware that they needed to be documented. CONTINUED PAGE 2 A sampling of children's records was conducted and were found to be current and complete. LPA reviewed records of the staff present which were also found to be complete. LPA observed all staff to have current Mandated Reporter Training. LPA observed the Director to have completed CPR/ First Aid on 8/16/2023 (expires 8/16/2025). Director Michele Tappeiner was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA referred Director Michele Tappeiner to the Department website for lead: Lead Toxicity Prevention and Water Testing Information . Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP . When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Director Michele Tappeiner was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. CONTINUED PAGE 3 No deficiencies were issued during today's inspection. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Director Michele Tappeiner .
