What the inspector wrote

On March 12, 2024 at 4:00PM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) S. Mendoza-Ceja and German Negrete conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection to follow up on an Unusual Incident Report (UIR) received by the Department on February 21, 2024. LPAs met with Site Supervisor Susana Del Toro and Program Manager Mariam Angel, the purpose of the inspection was discussed. LPAs toured the center with Site Supervisor Susana Del Toro. LPAs observed 2 staff directly supervising 3 childr en in care during nap time . LPAs spoke with Site Supervisor Susana Del Toro and Program Mariam Angel regarding the incident that occurred on February 20, 2024. The incident involved staff #1 who inappropriately held and pulled child #1’s clothing (hoodie) while chasing child #1 through the yard. Child #1 did not sustain injuries or marks. Staff #1 is no longer employed at the center. This incident was found to have been appropriately handled by the center following Title 22, Regulation requirements. Based on observations and the interview with the Site Supervisor it is recommended the center contact the Santa Barbara County Education Office, Inclusive Early Education Expansion Program (IEEEP) at (805) 96-4710 ext. 4440 for additional training for staff to ensure further incidents do not occur. There were no deficiencies cites at this time . FAILURE TO POST THE NOTICE OF SITE VISIT FOR 30 DAYS MAY RESULT IN A $100.00 CIVIL PENALTY.
