What the inspector wrote

On 03/12/2026 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) German Negrete conducted an unannounced Case Management Inspection. LPA arrived and met with Licensee Naneette Chavez and advised Licensee of the purpose for the inspection. Together with the Licensee, LPA toured the Family Child Care Home(FCCH) inside and outside. LPA notes at the time of inspection there were 5 children receiving care and supervision from Licensee. LPA conducted a follow up visit due to observations that were documented on 7/21/2025, during an annual inspection. During the aforementioned visit LPA observed licensee providing care and supervision to children inside a garage. On 7/21/2025 and today LPA informed Licensee of state regulations that prevent licensed child care providers from providing care and supervision to children in a garage. The department has not received documents to prove the garage has been permitted by the city ordinance officials. Continued LIC809-C LPA reviewed facility file. The review revealed the family child care home received an approval for a large license on 10/10/2013. The fire clearance has no mentioned of garage being approved for child care services. Also review of Facility sketch revealed, only living room, yard and bathroom were labeled as accessible to children in care. Today the Licensee updated the facility sketch, the following areas will be utilized for child care services: living room, kitchen, downstairs bathroom and yard. The following areas will be excluded from child care services: all two bedrooms and upstairs bathroom and garage. Through LPA observations, documents, interviews, it has been confirmed, the supervision of children in care, in the garage is no longer being practiced at this Family Child Care Home. Today Licensee will receive one advisory note under health and safety code section 1597.40(a). Exit interview was conducted and report was read to Nannette Chavez. Appeal rights were provided. THE NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS POSTED AS REQUIRED BY H&S CODE SEC. 1596.817. THE NOTICE OF SITE VISIT MUST REMAIN POSTED FOR 30 DAYS OR A CIVIL PENALTY OF $100.00 WILL APPLY.
