What the inspector wrote

On June 22 nd , 2023, at 8:53am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Rosie Breault conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection. LPA met with assistant director Lucy Fay and advised her the purpose of the inspection. Assistant director provided LPA a tour of the center inside and out. The center operates Monday through Friday 7:30am – 5:30pm. At the time of the inspection there were fourteen (14) children and three (3) staff present. LPA observed required licensing documents in a prominent location and current menu for review and copies present for parent(s). Center uses written logs for the purposes of signing in and out. The center is currently utilizing two (2) classrooms for care and supervision. Each of the classrooms have ample ventilation, age-appropriate toys, and furniture readily accessible for children in care. LPA observed a variety of activities to meet the needs of children including quiet play, and napping. Children nap on cots and their individual bedding is stored separately. Children bring their own water bottles and center also provides filter water for use. LPA observed changing table and sink. LPA observed all cleaning compounds, disinfectants, sharps, combustibles, and tools to be elevated and inaccessible to children. LPA observed the center has a sufficient number of restrooms and sinks available for the children, which were functioning and clean at the time of the inspection. Center provides morning and afternoon snack, parent(s) provided lunch. LPA observed kitchen to be clean, free of rodents, and appliances in working order. Fire extinguisher was last serviced on July 7th, 2022, and first aid kits are available. Last emergency drill was conducted on May 23, 2023. Per director, no firearms or ammunition are present at center. LPA observed the outdoor area play area to have ample amount of space for children to play with appropriate toys and equipment. LPA observed ample shade, soft padding, and sandbox free of debris. No bodies of water are present. CONTINUED ON LIC809C Incidental medical services are currently being provided. LPA observed medications to be stored in a safe place, inaccessible to children, children’s names present, and unaltered labels. A sampling of children and staff records were reviewed. LPA observed staff files to be complete. Teacher present has Pediatric First Aid/CPR certificate expires 3/2025. LPA discussed AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training certificates. LPAs verified SB 792 Child Care Adult Immunization and Tuberculosis Requirements. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation interpretations and procedures for Child Care Centers sections 101173 and 101226. Technical assistance provided. Exit interview conducted, report reviewed, and copy provided to assistant director. THE NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS POSTED AS REQUIRED BY H&S CODE SEC. 1596.817. THE NOTICE OF SITE VISIT MUST REMAIN POSTED FOR 30 DAYS OR A CIVIL PENALTY OF $100.00 WILL APPLY.
